Like many modern love stories, ours began online—but it didn’t take long for things to feel anything but ordinary. Our first date was at Monks Belgian Cafe in Philadelphia where the Mussels and frites were just as delectable as the company across the table. Our conversation quickly went from nervousness and intrigue to talking about career experiences that we each admired about one-another and the huge importance we have of spending time with our families. The deep conversations and laughter came easy, and the connection felt real.
On the train ride back across the bridge to New Jersey that night, Bobby saw actual fireworks in the night sky….and not just the metaphorical kind. He couldn’t wait to text Kathy about it, who (truth be told) had been eagerly waiting for that “after the first date message” to say that he wanted to see her again.
Kathy knew early on that Bobby was the one. For Bobby, the moment came after a late-night puzzle session at her apartment when Kathy (without hesitation) ordered a buffet of appetizers at 11:30 at night to be delivered since they were both getting hungry again. Her love of spoiling her guests, her contagious smile, and her spontaneity to seize every moment of each day sealed the deal.
Since then, we’ve cherished the little trips to the grocery store together just as much as vacation trips, and major life milestones. With every moment, our lives have woven together more beautifully than we could’ve imagined. We consider ourselves so lucky to have found each-other!
