Our Wedding

Gray and I met one fateful day in Spanish class at Union University. Funnily enough, Union wasn't the first choice for either of us, and still, God worked in mysterious ways. Upon getting to know Gray, I found his goofy personality to be quite charming. Although it wasn't the right time for us to begin dating at Union, he came running back to me 3 years later during my senior year of college. Out of nowhere, he gave me a Facetime call to show me a tour of his "man cave" apartment with about 5 total pieces of furniture. From there, he initiated hangouts from swimming at his apartment to going on a "not sunrise" hike (he overslept) to watching "Surf's Up" while Josh and Haisten sat behind us eating McDonald's. On all these occasions, Grayson maintained more than enough room for Jesus. No seriously, I didn't realize these were dates because I assumed he didn't like me. Of course because I had assumed the feelings were one- sided, I kept my hopes low. On the drive home from the movie, I asked Gray if he had any plans for New Year's Eve. He didn't. So I suggested he hang with me at my sister Mindy's house back when she lived in what Grayson affectionately calls "The Dirty Dova". While there, his friends invited him to a Lamda Chi Party. My introverted self wanted to stay in, but Gray eventually convinced me to tag along. I mean who can say no to those blue eyes? As we walked into the party, I said "I really hope I find someone to give me a kiss at the ball drop." A hint which completely flew over Gray's head. However, I did get a peek of jealousy when I began to mingle. Gray ripped me from a conversation about a Mexican band to "show me what the inside of a Lamda Chi house looked like". Very funny considering I had just gone in their to use the ladies' room. He did not kiss me at the ball drop by the way. We eventually arrive back at my sister's. While there, in a soft, innocent voice Gray says "Can I ask you a question?" My heart races because I am sure this man is about to ask me out when up till now I hadn't realized he'd been courting me. I reply "sure". "I think your really really pretty and really cool. And I just wanna know would you like to start dating?" I'm paraphrasing as best I can as that was almost 3 years ago (January 1, 2022). With a quick affirming response, Gray became giddy and didn't know how to be a boyfriend as I am his first and only girlfriend. We eventually shared a New Year's kiss to mark the day we became a couple. I assumed Gray meant we were dating in the sense that he'd actually take me on dates to see if we were compatible, but his excited "I can't believe you're my girlfriend!" the next morning let me know we were official. Eventually- 3 days later- Gray told me he loved me much to I and Kelly's surprise. It was unorthodox for sure, but very in character because when Gray loves you, he doesn't hide it. Eventually, I reciprocated the "I love you" and Gray and I have been going strong ever since. We've dealt with long distance due to military and school. We've gone to Budapest, Rome, Florence and so many other places together. We've fought and laughed and cried together. Throughout it all though, we have relied on Christ. Gray reflects the light of the Lord in the way he talks, loves, and carries himself. He is an amazing brother, son, and fiancé, and I know he'll be an even better husband. I'm excited for this next part of our journey.

How Gray and Katie Came to Be: Bride's Perspective

I asked Katie to be my girlfriend on Jan 1, 2022. Life’s been great ever since. I now have a laundry and grocery schedule and all my clothes have a specific spot in the closet (sorry, they have a specific spot in the CORNER of the closet, the rest is Katie’s). Joking aside, God blessed me astronomically (shoutout Kylan Anderson) by providing me with Katie and Lord knows I needed someone like her in my life. Don’t ask me how I landed the greatest catch on Planet Earth because I’m not sure it’s replicable. She’s one of a kind and beautiful inside and out. I had a lot of boxes I needed ticked in a future bride and Katie not only ticket them all, she provided me with MORE checked boxes that I hadn’t even thought up before. She’s funny, smart, and cooler than I; so she makes for a perfect plus one to any occasion. I think this occasion will be absolutely perfect.

Registry

Although we would love to see our guests in brighter colors, as someone whose favorite color is black, feel free to wear your blacks, browns, and grays. However, it is important to note that our wedding will be in June so darker colors might not be the best choice. We recommend light colors and fabrics as well as short sleeves to beat the June heat. Ladies, remember to avoid whites and shades of white. Hopefully the pictures below give some outfit inspo! Can't wait to see you all!
