Katie, a freshman at EKU, mistakenly took the wrong statistics course. When she walked into the class, there was only one seat open in the back of the class. Nervously, she began to walk towards the seat and sat down. Katie noticed the guy in front of her smiled and seemed to be friendly. Soon after, the professor asked the class to get into groups and get to know each other. Katie introduced herself to the group of friends and the guy's name in front of her was Austin. Austin welcomed Katie into the friend group and quickly realized Katie was dumb when it came to statistics.
It all really started when Austin asked Katie to a study group. From there, a true friendship grew over the semester. So much so that Austin and Katie remained close friends after the class ended. However, Austin was completing his computer science degree and graduated EKU. Austin was unsure where he would get a job and eventually ended up in Dayton, Ohio.
They lost touch for some time, until, Katie's brother moved to Dayton, Ohio as well, where he experienced a devastating tornado one night. Katie, knowing Austin also lived in Dayton, had to know Austin was okay. That night, Katie texted Austin to make sure he was safe and their friendship picked up right where they left off.
After months of catching up, Austin asked Katie to his girlfriend on October 18th, 2019. Long distance was not easy nor fun, but in August, 2020, Austin moved to Lexington. Katie and Austin spent much more time together and realized that spending time with each other was pretty cool.
May 29th, 2021, Austin took Katie to Florida for graduating at EKU. On the last day there, Austin got on one knee and asked Katie to marry him. Now, Austin and Katie both live in Lexington, have two pets together, and are so excited to see what their future holds.
