In 2018 Katie and Craig met through Stage 284, where she currently serves as the Artistic Director and he currently serves as the Production Manager. Bobby Kerrigan, Katie's Theater Dad, hired Craig to help with Titanic. The show was taking place at Pingree School and Crystal VanArtsdalen, fabulous matchmaker and friend extraordinaire, was the Technical Theater Director as well as a cast member in Titanic.

Katie heard that "the lighting guy" was out of control and moving a bunch of lights even though that completely violated their contract. So, being the 27 year old Managing Director, she marched into the theater and said, "who the f**k's Craig?" The tallest guy in the world was on a genie (really tall motorized ladder) and waved his hand. She told him to get down here and then waited about 90 seconds as the genie lowered Craig to the floor. She leaned into him and said, "listen, I'm gonna yell at you for a minute and then we're gonna meet in the parking lot, ok?" He looked at her, nodded and she proceeded to ask him who he thought he was and what he was doing violating the clear contract that had been presented him.

Once the dramatic discussion was over, they met in the parking lot where Craig informed Katie that he had been hired to babysit the Lighting Designer. He was moving all the lights back to their original positions as soon as the lighting designer adjusted them. Crystal, Katie, and Craig went out for dinner and drinks with some other production team members that evening and that's when the love story begins...but not as you'd imagine.

Craig was in love with another girl and so, Katie decided she was going to set them up. Meanwhile, the fantastic Crystal was working on getting Katie and Craig to realize they were made for each other. Before too long they were going on dates and the rest is history.

Katie loves that Craig keeps her grounded and supports her in all of her endeavors. It helps that he likes to cook and that he understands that Katie's big heart can get her into trouble sometimes. Craig loves that Katie sees him for the truly spectacular and kind person he is and doesn't mind that she can't cook...but wishes she'd do more laundry. Hey...every fairytale has a rough chapter!
