College

Katie graduated in May 2024 with a degree in Economics and has accepted a job to be a HS math teacher. Alex will be graduating in December 2024 with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and plans to attend Law School in 2026.

In college, we were lucky enough to visit 7 countries! We've gone to Italy, Costa Rica, Mexico, Singapore, England, France, and Ireland. We've also really enjoyed domestic trips like Chicago, New York and the NC Mountains.

Dress Code: Semi-Formal

Please feel free to wear whatever makes you most comfortable and confident! The following are merely suggestions to follow if you have the time and resources.

Colors

We're hoping for an earthy/jewel-tone feel for colors! This could include a variety of shades of blues, greens, and purples. Some popular colors in this range are included below. Please remember that these are just suggestions! We would also suggest staying away from black.

Women

Midi and maxi dresses are suggested for the sake of the wind (we are next to the sound). If you're not keen to dresses or skirts, feel free to wear a jumpsuit or some slacks and a blouse!

Khakis and a button-down are great! If you're feeling up to it, you could also wear a suit jacket. Tie-optional.

Local Family and Friends

The venue is about 2 1/2 hours from Durham. Elizabeth City and Edenton (the suggested cities for hotel booking) are about 3 hours from Durham.

Non-local Family and Friends

We really appreciate your every effort to join us. RDU is about 2 1/2 hours from the venue, and ORF (Norfolk Airport) is about an hour. Please let us know if you need any special accommodations and we will try our best to accomodate you!

Edenton (20 Mins)

Although Elizabeth City is the suggested city to book accomodations in, Edenton is also a viable option for finding alternative places to stay.

This 3-star hotel has free breakfast and an outdoor pool. This is our more economical choice, available for around $70 a night.

Quality Inn Elizabeth City near University

This 3-star hotel has free breakfast and an outdoor pool. This is a 2nd tier choice, available for around $140 a night.

SureStay Plus by Best Western Elizabeth City

This 4-star hotel has free breakfast and an indoor pool. This is our most expensive choice, available for around $190 a night.

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Elizabeth City

Alternative Ideas

We've had a few family members express that they're going to turn this into a full beach trip! The venue is about an hour and a half from the NC Outer Banks (Kitty Hawk being the closest beach), in case this sounds like something you might also be interested in!
