Their story starts in the cleanly apartment #1710 in Tallahassee, Florida while Katie was visiting FSU. Katie and Brett spent many fun weekends together with their friends in Tallahassee before returning to Miami for the summer. That is when Brett took Katie on their first date to Michael's Genuine in Miami before picking up her sister, Meghan, from the airport (in retrospect, this was very kind of Brett; it wouldn't be the last time he did Meghan a favor).

They spent the next couple years of college visiting back and forth between UF and FSU before Brett graduated and moved to Gainesville. They spent a lot of time at his Nana and Pop's studying, cooking, and trying to avoid the topic of Gator Football. Brett and Katie did some soul searching on their own for a bit -- Brett skiing in the mountains and Katie burying herself in medical school books. They reconnected while Katie was doing an away rotation at the hospital in Denver and the rest is history.

Brett moved to Nashville where they spent a couple of years on a farm with alpaca, chickens and horses. They got engaged, found out they matched in Denver for Katie's GI fellowship, and got their dog Nash in the course of a very productive two weeks in December 2021. They have been busy with house projects, puppy rearing, and trying to survive first year of fellowship and are excited to finally tie the knot this summer!
