When Covid caused everything to shut down in March of 2020, Katie was living in Charlotte awaiting the start of Law School. After a few days of not leaving the house, she decided to go stay in Carolina Beach (back before Jeff and Sherri sold the house!), in search of something to do.

After college, Cadan settled down and began his professional career in Wilmington. When Covid hit, he was living with a few college friends in the area. Katie, at Carolina Beach with nothing to do, decided to reconnect with Cadan and the guys since everyone was working remotely (plus, their house had a pool).

After a few weeks, Cadan and Katie's friendship began to grow and they decided to go on a trip to Key West, just the two of them. It was there that they realized they wanted to pursue a relationship. Shortly after returning to reality, Cadan asked Katie to (officially) be his girlfriend. And the rest is history!

After about a year of having a long distance relationship, they decided to buy a house together in Raleigh and settle down with their little family. Gatsby and Luna became the best of friends and were happy to no longer be only children. Once Katie graduated Law School, they quickly made the decision to relocate to Wrightsville Beach and really begin their lives together. It's there that they still call home and they couldn't be happier.

Then, in October of 2024, Cadan and Katie went on an unforgettable trip to Iceland. In the midst of traveling the country, in 5 degree weather and under the breathtaking Northern Lights, Cadan got down on one knee and asked for Katie's forever. Frozen and surprised, (and stunned by the ring!) she of course said YES! Not sure if anything will ever top that proposal.

Wilmington is where they formed their friendship, where their relationship began, and now, where they will get married and start their lives as husband and wife.
