Due to the current situation with COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to change our wedding to immediate family and wedding party only. Planning our wedding during the pandemic has been challenging and nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of those we love, so please know we didn't take the decision lightly.
If you would like to celebrate with us virtually, our wedding will be streamed on Facebook Live in lieu of your attendance. You can find our private wedding Facebook through the below link. Please contact us directly with any questions. Thank you for your love, patience, and concern.
Hunter and I met first semester of our freshmen year of college. We were both excited to meet as many new people as possible at the University of Tennessee, so we both turned to Greek life (Hunter to Lambda Chi and me to Delta Gamma). One of the very first weeks at UT, Lambda Chi hosted a philanthropy event called Watermelon Bust. And wouldn't you know it, one of our friends (Tim Ross), paired Hunter to be the Delta Gamma coach for the week of philanthropic events and activities.
What followed was many months of going on dates and finding ourselves while also learning to love the other. After officially becoming "boyfriend-girlfriend" in February, we decided to study abroad together in Italy that summer with our friend Ben Fredebeil (who says he is one of the main reasons we ended up together). After many late nights with friends, trips, and 2 degrees later, we are now in Florida working our first "real jobs." We are so lucky to have all of our family and friends who have helped us grow, both individually and together.
As Katie mentions above, the two members of the Dream Team officially met for the first time in our first semester of college. We were both excited for a new chapter in our lives and built incredible networks of friends. A few members of those networks just so happened to know us both and played pivotal roles in our early relationship. Whether getting us introduced (shoutout Tim Ross) or listening to us talk separately about how excited one was to be dating the other (shoutout Ben Fredebeil), we had a little help from some fantastic people.
Over the next five years, we learned how to be adults (sort of still working on this one!), find careers, pursue passions, build friendships, and most importantly for the purposes of this fine story, build our chance encounter into a strong and loving relationship that has led to our wedding-worthy bond.
With so many exciting stories behind us, we are even more excited for the ones to come. We are blessed with help, support, and love from our family and friends, and can't wait to create and share some of those stories with you!
