Katie and I met in 2021 at The Moody Bible Institute. I was a sophomore and she was fresh out of high school. Katie was in a couple friend groups with me and we were able to get to know each other well as friends, but we both were in relationships at the time. About 6 months after meeting and becoming friends, we (both single at this point) began to grow closer and closer. I (Luke) did not have her number however, so the first time I reached out to her to hang out just the two of us I had to use group me... she still makes fun of me for that!

Shortly after we hung out for the first time alone, winter break hit, and we did not see each other for a while. However, we did call about every other day over break. At this point I had decided I liked her. I would hint that I liked her from time to time, but it was not until spring semester rolled up that I finally admitted my feelings for her.

It was the end of January 2022 that I asked Katie on a date. I sat down with her at school, and I told her how I felt about her, and that I wanted to go on a date with her. I will never forget what she said to me after I asked about the date. She looked at me, smiled, and said

"no, but we can go as friends."

When I asked her why not as a date she replied

"My friends think you are too crazy"

I couldn't argue, so I agreed to the friend date.

I must have done pretty well on that "Friend Date" because a couple weeks later (on Valentines day...two birds one stone) I asked her to be my Girlfriend using a Prius full of flowers...And she said YES!

From then on Katie has been one of the best parts of my life, and I have loved getting to know her better every day. It only took me a few months to know she was going to be my wife! After lots of planning, I was finally able to come up with the perfect proposal plan. With the help of some friends and family, I was able to get Katie down to Brown County State Park in Southern Indiana to ask her to be my wife. She had no idea, thinking she was on a girl's trip, and the look on her face was priceless! I will never forget that day, and how both our lives changed!
