How We Met

Katie's Version:Scott and I grew up 5 minutes apart and went to school together since first grade in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I always thought Scott was the "cool older emo boy" in high school and unfortunately, I was the "dorky musical girl". Little did I know that Scott had his eye on me and slid into my DM's (on facebook that is) in the summer of 2011. We had a short lived romance that I called "dating" and Scott called "a fling". When summer came to an end, we went our separate ways. I finished college and moved to Charleston, South Carolina and Scott stayed in Pittsburgh. Years passed, and I eventually moved back to Pittsburgh in 2019 and oddly enough moved in 5 minutes away from where Scott purchased his first home. Once again, Scott slid right back into my DM's (now on instagram) and we went on our "second first date" and the rest is history. Scott's Version:It all goes back to the summer of 2011, when I worked up the courage to slide into Katie's DM's and let her know how I thought she was "very cute". This led to us hanging out for the first time at her house just a few days after her wisdom teeth surgery. I still vividly remember going to her house and walking in to see her swollen "chubby" cheeks and one of her many "latch hook" projects. The next few months flew by and prior to her transferring to Slippery Rock, she sent me out to the pasture. I felt at the time that I lost out on someone who added so much to my life, but also knew that if it was truly meant to be, we'd find a way back into each other's lives. Fast forward to November 2019 and I once again, slid into her DM's asking for a chance to meet up and re-connect. Following our "second first date", which lasted about 5 hours, and included great conversation and eventually shutting the Abbey down, I knew this time it was going to stick.

The Proposal

The evening of December 16, 2021, Scott had planned to take Katie up to the West End Overlook then dinner with his family. Seems suspicious, right? Wrong! Katie thought NOTHING of it, as she was in the midst of interviewing for a new job over the past few weeks and just was told she got the job that day! Perfect, she was incredibly distracted. On the drive up, Katie's friends called her and they had more exciting news to share, Alex was pregnant! On this phone call, our friend Liz says, "Good things come in threes, maybe you'll get the third, Katie!" Katie laughed it off and Scott began shaking in his boots. Again, good thing Katie was distracted because she had absolutely no idea. They park at the West End Overlook and it is very dark and very creepy. The entire walk towards it Katie continues to say, "The city needs to invest in lights, this is dangerous!". After the fourth safety complaint, the bridge they are walking through lights up with hundreds of twinkle lights. Scott takes out a remote from his pocket and grins. Katie begans screaming, yes... screaming and shaking from excitement. Scott gets down on one knee and asks the easiest question that Katie has ever had to answer. At this point, a photographer pops out from around the corner along with Scott's sister, Maggie. They head to dinner with their immediate families to celebrate the best night of their lives yet.

Pick up from all hotels will be between 2:15-2:30 with a departure time of 2:30 All transportation will be leaving the venue by 10:30 pm and drop off at both hotels and the after party location; Balloons.

Winery of Ellicottville: We love to relax at this awesome, local winery right in town.5. Katy's Cafe: Offers both fast or sit down breakfast. Both are delicious!6. The Banq: This is our favorite after hours spot because of their cocktails and the great service.7. Steelbound: Great stop for good beer and good food!8. Ellicottville Coffee Company: Awesome, local coffee tied in with clothing!
