Kyle and Katie met in August 2010 at UMass Lowell in their Freshmen dormitory, Fox Hall. Both 18 years old, they were embarking on a new chapter in their lives. It didnt take long for their friend groups to mesh, and they found themselves spending a lot of time together. Although they never actually dated in college, they remained close friends after graduation, spending weekends in Boston with their UML friends and attending the annual Hearts for Hope Gala.
Deep down, they always had a crush on each other but the timing was never right - until a decade later in 2020 when they found themselves both single. Although they went on a few dates earlier that year, it was always casual and Katie was afraid of jeopardizing their friendship if it didnt work out. Little did she know, Kyle promised himself one final attempt to ask Katie on a real date, to see if sparks would fly. Fortunately for both of them, Katie accepted and on that first real date, their longtime friendship dynamic shifted into something more. It didnt hurt that his best friends Casey and Sarah OBrien knew Kyle was taking Katie to Collette in Cambridge, and called ahead to surprise them with dessert, making the evening that much sweeter.
Kyle and Katie were finally a couple, and when they broke the news to their close friends, the consensus was-finally! Having already shared a tight knit friend group and having met each others family prior, the transition from friends to couple was effortless.
On August 28th, 2022, Kyle asked Katie to marry him in her favorite spot overlooking the ocean at Plum Cove in Gloucester, MA. On June 1, 2024 they will officially tie the knot at Hammond Castle in Gloucester, surrounded by their families and lifelong friends who always knew this day would come, even if the two of them didn't.
