We met in July of 2014 at Sam and Gabe’s restaurant in Des Moines for a monthly Dinner Club. Katie remembers Mike showing up “fashionably late” (how unusual). The only open seat was at the opposite end of the table from Katie. However, at the end of the evening Mike hurried over to introduce himself to Katie. This was Katie’s first Dinner Club appearance as she was new to town. Mike remembers how beautiful Katie looked and wanted to make sure he saw her again. That night upset about forgetting to ask for Katie’s phone number he “friended” her on Facebook and asked her to an event he was hosting the next weekend. Katie provided the convenient excuse of being busy with work and studies for the next month which she maintains as the truth. Like any normal person Mike moved on with his life. Katie was sad he didn't call at the end of the month.

Nearly a year later Mike and his friends were heading up to Okoboji when a mutual friend mentioned to Mike that Katie was single and very interested in getting know him better. This same friend told Katie the same thing about Mike. Without hesitation when Mike got back from Okoboji he asked Katie on their first date. … She said yes. For their first date, Mike took Katie to the Des Moines Zoo Brew. Let’s just say the rest is history.
