Meet me in Saint Louis…..

After moving to Saint Louis in 2019, (Katie in May, Trent in August) we matched on Bumble on October 28th. After a few messages Trent wanted to meet in person at a bar, have some drinks, and watch a Blues game. Katie was currently working nights at the hospital and was not enticed by just another offer for a free drink. Not easily discouraged, Trent doubled down and said “what if I got us tickets to the game?”. Thanks to some encouragement from Allie Lucash, Katie agreed and we met for the first time outside of the Enterprise Center on October 30th. The Blues beat the Minnesota Wild but neither of us were really paying attention. We talked the entire game and sparks were flying. Trent lived up the street from the arena and invited Katie back for a bottle of wine and more conversation. We consider October 30th our anniversary because our first date lasted 20 hours and we never looked back. We saw each other as much as we could and within a few days Trent asked “we’re dating, right?” to which Katie replied “yeah I thought so”. In August of 2020 we purchased a home together in South City and love getting to live with our best friend. The next few years were full of renovation, trying new patios/restaurants, and traveling where we could! Since Katie has to work holidays, we wanted to do something special for Christmas 2022. It would be our first Christmas together in the three years we’d been together! We called up Katie’s years of French class, obsession with French cuisine, and decided to head to Paris, France. After a delay in Saint Louis we missed our connecting flight from Chicago to Paris. After flying to London, taking a train across the English channel, stopping in Belgium, we got to Paris only 12 hours behind schedule. Unfortunately our bags would not make the journey with us for the week. Trent proposed on the Eiffel Tower on Christmas day. Both of us wearing the same clothes we’d left in. After Katie said yes we told our families and kept it our secret until we got home. Katie getting food poisoning the next day made this trip the ultimate “if we can get through this we can make it through anything.” We are excited for a lifetime of friendship, travel, and finding fun in the small things. We’re ecstatic to celebrate with you in September!

Bergen has been my friend since 2014 when we met in college. She's been a friend, a bad influence, a roommate, the best influence, and the biggest cheerleader for Trent and I. She has also worked tirelessly to ensure our big day is the best it can be!

Eric and I met in line during fraternity bid acceptance in 2013 and have probably talked every day since. Eric is one of the smartest people I know and has something he could teach you about most subjects. I’ve been lucky enough to see him become a husband and father in recent years. 700 miles can’t keep us from watching his daughter Ellison grow up and talking Cardinal baseball.

Kevin has been a best friend since they were my boss in college. We also took Human Sexuality and made a podcast called "Lubrication Station" that to this day is the most educational thing I've ever made. Kevin has been a source of humor, joy, and comfort in both Trent and I's life.

Jared is the story friend. He has a story about everyone and everyone has at least one Jared story. He’s been my friend, my roommate, travel partner, and TV watching confidant. Be sure to compliment how he looks in his suit and don’t be afraid to ask him to dance.

Danielle and I met the first day I joined our sorority in college and we've been inseparable ever since. She's been my "mama", my shoulder to cry on, my supplier of popcorn, and a wonderful friend!

Joe has been a constant in my adult life. Although we were friends in college, we’re much closer as level headed adults. Joe is a fellow aspiring chef/pit boss/beer and bourbon aficionado. He’s a great sports mind (as long as it’s not fantasy football) and is helping me get to know HIS love of soccer.

Allie D. and I have known each other since our first week at Truman when we shared a dorm hall. She is a constant source of laughter, inspiration, and positivity. We have never spent a moment with Allie that doesn't make us better people!

Topaz is a hypeman for everyone. He’s a genuinely positive person and always has a compliment he’s waiting to share. Don’t let him drive after dark or ask him for directions, but you can trust him with just about everything else. His outlook and commentary on life are what make him a treasure.

Al and I have been friend since 2014 in college but our friendship truly blossomed through nursing school. "Al and Kat" have grown as friends, nurses, and people together. She is wise and kind and always lends a listening ear.

You won’t find a sweeter man than Nathan Wayne Payne. We first met in Racer Band when I was a freshman and his personality was like a magnet. He has a calming kindness and is always willing to make time to listen. We’ve been close through many life, career, and personal decisions. Nathan is a voice I trust and a vibe I can rely on. There’s only one NWP.

Olive and I met in 2014 in college but bonded as roommates in our last two years of college. She has always pushed me to think outside my own small world and to be kind to all. While we have a long distance friendship now while she's in Texas, the moment we're back together it's like it's been minutes apart instead of months.

Aw-Ba-Shawn. Taylor is the angel on my shoulder always telling me to keep life fun. He introduced me to disc golf and created some of my favorite memories of Summers in MKY. He’s my only friend I don’t remember how we became close, but it changed me for the better. Taylor can curate the perfect mix or playlist for any occasion. Be sure to like and subscribe when you meet him.
