Our story began when a mutual friend noticed Matt’s virtual zoom background of his Harley during an online class. He reached out and after months of riding together and many homework assignments our friend, Livingstone, told Matt about a perfect girl for him.

After much inquiry from Matt about this girl, Livingstone shared our phone numbers. Katie was the first to reach out and we quickly set up a first date. We decided on going out to El Rodeo’s in Blacksburg, VA on November 4th 2020. Matt drove just up the road from his house to Katie’s apartment and picked her up. At the restaurant we barely ate, too busy talking about our lives and aspirations. After hours and with cold food in boxes we headed back planning a second date. These dates continued and the rest is history!

It didn't take us long to realize that we had quite a long list of shared hobbies. This is one of the incredible things that brought us together and has allowed us to complete so many wild and crazy adventures together!

These hobbies include: dirtbikes, guns, motorcycles, automobiles, tractors, farming, animals, hiking, biking, watersports, and so much more!

Our first date was to El Rodeo in Blacksburg, VA, the place where this photo was taken. It is a fine establishment with many memories of 21st birthday tequila shots, post tailgate snacks, and dinners when we didn't feel like cooking.

Our story carried us to many new adventures and journeys from skiing, Florida adventures, St. Thomas exploring, dirt biking, and so much more!

Matt has been a motorcycle man since his high school years and Katie joined the party in the Spring of 2023. This shared passion has led to many nights cleaning, fixing, and Youtubing all things motorcycles. Many backroads and curves have been discovered as a result, creating some incredible memories on the road.

03.08.23- The best beach day for us!

On a perfect spring break day at 5:20 PM in Pensacola Beach, Florida, months of proposal planning came into action.

Katie's friends were in on the proposal and helped by bringing her to the beach with the promise of taking photos. After a few photos, everyone but Matt and Katie went back up to the house saying they had to use the bathroom.

As 5:20 PM approached Matt kept Katie’s back to the West knowing what the engine noise in the distance was. When the time was just right Matt asked Katie, “What kind of plane is that?” Upon turning around she saw the Cessna 172 pulling a banner saying, "KTKIRK WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

Not too long after she said yes, her friends and all of the fraternity brothers rushed over the sand dune they were hiding behind with champagne bottles, balloons, and screams of excitement!

It truly was a day to remember and an incredible celebration with all our closest friends.

We both graduated from Virginia Tech in the Spring of 2023! Matt with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Katie with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences. Lets go HOKIES!

Our latest journey has brought us to Denver, North Carolina to start our professional careers. Here we rented a three bedroom, two bath house with a garage and driveway just big enough for all our toys. Since being here we have been attending concerts, riding all of our bikes, hosting friends/family, visiting breweries, and getting sunburnt on the lake while tubing, waterskiing, and wake boarding. We have been thoroughly enjoying our post college life together!
