Katie and Adam were introduced by two of their best friends while Adam was still in the police academy in Richmond, Kentucky. After several months of sporadic texting and a few dates, Adam introduced Katie as his "girlfriend" in front of the Henderson Police Department, the Mayor of Henderson, Kentucky, and the majority of his immediate family at his swearing in ceremony.

This was the first Katie knew of this relationship update.

Over the last few years, Adam improved his communication style and the two bonded over their love of Katie's multitude of pets and foster animals, fishing on the banks of the Ohio River, and collaborative culinary adventures.
