Carol
Carol - Matron of Honor
Carol and Margaret first met 32 years ago in a little house in Yorba Linda, CA. Margaret had yet to develop the ability to make memories at the time, but Carol remembers it as a very exciting moment. Since then the two have shared many adventures, and Carol is honored to be a part of this new chapter in Margaret's life.
Amanda
Amanda - Maid of Honor
Katiemartore (yes, one word) has been an integral part of Amanda's life since she was a first-year soccer player and "Mafia" family member at Wellesley in 2008. The two have been on many adventures together including Brazil, weekends at the Cape, baseball games, and trivia nights with "Team Moose" at Morse Tavern. She is excited to go on adventures in the Bay Area, and now with Margaret too. Katiemartore's friendship means the world to Amanda, and she is honored and thrilled to celebrate with the beautiful couple!
Michelle
Michelle - Matron of Honor
Margaret and Michelle met in 2nd grade, when they were both forced to accompany their older siblings to orchestra practice. Since then, they've bonded over hundreds of Ice Blended® drinks, spent a summer in high school seeing movies together pretty much every other day, survived four years at rival institutions, and managed to keep in touch despite often being in different cities, states, and even countries. Their shared pastimes include quizzing each other on song lyrics, trying to figure out what Donnie Darko was all about, and up until recently, jogging around the Brookline resevoir (but really just strolling and chatting.)
Molly
Molly - Maid of Honor
Molly and Katie worked together at Holy Name Parish School in West Roxbury, Mass., and became friends after Molly photographed the Penguin Promenade in Katie's kindergarten classroom. Their friendship grew over the next two years during trips to Katie's Cape house, Red Sox games at Fenway Park, and finding a shared love of ice cream and froyo. In that time, Katie quickly became Molly's best friend in Boston, so she's honored to have a role in her friend's big day.
Shawna
Shawna - Bridesmaid
Katie met Shawna when they studied together at Wellesley College, and they were roommates during their sophomore year. Katie helped Shawna stay academically focused, while Shawna helped Katie ensure her college years were full of fun! The two have also had many adventures since graduation, including visiting one another in Boston and D.C., taking a trip to Ireland, and Katie standing up in Shawna's wedding just a couple years ago!
Vania
Vania - Bridesmaid
Margaret and Vania met as little fifth-graders at the Catholic school playground of St. Jeanne's. Little did they know, they would grow up to attend colleges in neighboring cities, write songs on the guitar together, and spend some of their adult lives in the city of Boston. Margaret was a bridesmaid at Vania's wedding, and Vania is honored to do the same for Margaret. Vania still remembers the time Margaret first talked about Katie, and has been privileged to watch their relationship blossom and grow. She currently resides in Boston with her husband and misses Margaret and Katie a lot!
Alana
Alana - Bridesmaid
Alana and Margaret met in 5th grade and bonded over sci-fi, Monty Python and Mel Brooks movies, and an adventurous afternoon of saving a fish. A rain storm had filled a creek and the California sun soon dried it, leaving a poor fish in a very small puddle. They grabbed buckets and a towel and Free-Willy-style carried the fish to an area with moving water. Who knows how long the fish lasted after that, but Margaret and Alana have stayed close friends ever since, even over long distances. (Thankfully, the song they wrote about the adventure has long since been forgotten. It was a silly song.) They've since shared many other memories after that - playing tennis, lots of sleepovers and studying, and phone calls to each other whenever one of them is killing a time at an airport.
Lauren
Lauren - Bridesmaid
Lauren has known Katie, well, really all her life! She was always following her older cousin around at family gatherings, and even followed her to college at Wellesley. Lauren is so excited to share in the joy of Katie's wedding and to welcome Margaret into the crazy Italian family!
Joseph
Joseph - Bridesman
I first met Katie when she was born in 1988. The ever over-achiever, she was born 3 days early and thus avoided being an April Fools Day Baby. Even though we are 5 years apart, we grew up playing together and enjoying many vacations to distant places. I remember quite a few bullies that I would "take care of" for my little sister through the years. There was also one harrowing kayaking "incident" in Australia where she capsized and I had to run over sharp corral to save her life. Granted I was the one that told her to strap in, but that's beside the point. Even through geographic separation with Katie in Boston and then San Francisco, we still talk and text to keep up with what's going on and our parents' latest folly.
Xingxing
Xingxing - Bridesmaid
Margaret and Xingxing's friendship started over writing (mostly very bad, but occasionally brilliant--see Margaret's piece titled "They made buttons out of my bones"--) stories in that hallowed institution known as Write! Club at WashU medical school. Their friendship subsequently blossomed as they shared three years in Boston and spent many a weekends and vacations getting cheap haircuts and cha-siu buns in Boston's Chinatown and directions from sheep on the backroads of Ireland. Xingxing is elated that their paths cross again in the Bay Area, where their adventures may continue, except now as a trio rather than duo!
