In early 2022, Logan Richards was working on his PhD in Biological Sciences at Vanderbilt and Katie Mayer was working as a veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital in Brentwood. Both were on dating apps like Hinge and Bumble and were going on many, many unsuccessful dates. Despite the pandemic winding down, the dating scene in the Nashville area was abysmal. Katie and Logan matched on Hinge and after a few days of messaging they met in person on March 19th, 2022 at Drakes in Brentwood. From there they went on 2-3 dates a week and could often be found together playing board games and showing each other pictures of fly eggs or surgeries. After a few months of dating, Katie was the first one to say "I love you", the two were playing cards and when Katie saw her hand, she looked at Logan and said "I love you but you're about to lose." Logan said "I love you too" and did in fact lose the game. On February 10th, 2023 Logan successfully defended his thesis and became Dr. Richards. Logan graduated on May 12th, 2023, began a fellowship with the National Institute of Health, and moved in with Katie and the zoo. On August 20th, 2023, Logan asked Katie to marry him with their Pomeranian, Millie's help. Katie woke up to Millie wearing a new collar with a tag that said "Will you marry me?" and a ring. She of course said yes! Now Katie and Logan are looking forward to their wedding and writing the rest of their life story together
