It all started at Zef Dema’s house in 2017. Katie was with her friends and Jake was with his. After a few drinks, the group decided to play survivor flip cup. In one of the games, everyone but Jake was eliminated from his team. It was something like 1 vs. 6 (the details are a bit hazy). Jake proceeded to single-handedly win rounds until eventually running out of steam when there were two players left on the other team. Suffice to say, Katie was impressed. Jake might have lost the game, but he won the girl.

From that night on, Katie and Jake talked regularly, connecting over their love for travel, being family (and friend) -oriented, and having similar tastes in music.

Talking turned into dating, and dating turned into moving into an apartment together. They now have a home, two cats (despite Katie’s efforts to get any animal under the sun), and a lifetime membership at a brewery, so it’s clear that they’re in it for the long haul.
