It all started with a glance! We were both attending the same high school at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk, Virginia. Katie was in the 10th grade and Peter was in the 8th grade. While trying out for his first year of varsity golf. Peter looked across the putting green at this pretty girl teeing off on the first hole, and it was love at first sight! We became the best of friends and supported each other through a series of life changes, including graduating from high school and attending college. After 11 years of a great friendship, Peter finally asked Katie out for dinner, and the rest has been history!

It was a cold Thursday afternoon in December right before Christmas, and Peter called to say he was coming into town for dinner. After picking Katie up from the house, he made a wrong turn out of the driveway, taking Katie down to a favorite summer date spot at Sandbridge in Virginia Beach. After parking, Peter walked Katie down the beach to the top of a sand dune. With a beautiful sunset as his backdrop, Peter got down on one knee and asked the question that would change our lives forever!
