Our love story began March 22nd 2021 with an unexpected blend of cultures and professions intertwined by our shared passion for bubble tea. For those familiar with OneZo, our first date mainly revolved around the exciting new summer flavor of “Juicy Peach”. But it wasn’t the tea that had us hooked, our connection was instant, and it felt like we had known each other a lifetime.

It’s been a whirlwind since, and we moved to Nashville for the last 2 years for my nephrology fellowship. Along the way, we’ve picked up a cat, a coco (our westie), and a few lessons of being together:

1. Perception is key- Katie is always right.

2. Don't Stay hungry in life- don’t let Katie or Russell get hungry.

3. Stay weird in life- Katie is allowed to do handstands and squawk at 12am.

4. Sharing is caring- except for bubble tea and lava cake.

5. Sacrifice is important- Katie prefers to sleep in the closet when Russ is on call.

6. Always compromise- Katie gets 85% of the bed because of #5.

7. Stay in your lane- Russell is a nephrologist NOT a dermatologist.

8. Diversify your portfolio- Russell is allowed to art direct at home.

9. Always have a backup plan- Katie does not like “fire hazards” (she needs an unobstructed exit).

10. Perception is key- Russell is always right.

Today as a soon to be nephrologist and a seasoned art director, we continue to explore life’s (and bubble tea) unique flavors together, finding inspiration in each other’s differing passions. Our story is one that was initially brought together by something as simple as bubble tea, but creating a story that is uniquely ours.
