Katie and Marcus met due to their shared interested in mixed martial arts. Katie started training at Victorious MMA back in 2010 when it open while Marcus joined in 2020. After training together for a couple years, the pair became friends and Marcus will even tell you that “she kicked me in the face and I knew she was the one”.

In August of 2022, after Marcus spent two weeks in Alaska and Katie spent two weeks in Greece, they knew they needed to be together. Right before Katie went back to Ann Arbor for PA school, Marcus asked her to be his girlfriend and the rest is history.

They spent the next year and a half navigating their relationship around graduate school and a full time job. They have shared many amazing moments together including Marcus’s juijitsu tournaments, Katie graduating from PA school, vacations up north and to Utah, and Katie’s Muay Thai tournament.

In August of 2024, the couple packed up for a camping trip at Sleeping Bear Dunes. They had an amazing Saturday morning, spending time together eating brunch at a local restaurant in traverse city and wandering the grounds of an old insane asylum turned shopping center. That afternoon they set out to hike Empires Bluff trail where Marcus found the perfect spot to propose. He set up his camera, got down on one knee, told Katie that she was his best friend, and asked “will you marry me?” She of course responded “yes!”

Katie and Marcus have been living together in Macomb, eagerly planning this wedding that they have been talking about for a while. They are very excited to share this day with you and look forward to celebrating with each and every one of you!
