Sam proposed to Katie on December 2, 2023, at Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland after they saw Straight No Chaser, a men's a cappella group, for her 30th birthday.

Katie and Sam met and fell in love in August of 2020 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Katie was working as an American Sign Language Interpreter in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and Sam was just starting the third year of his Ph.D. program in Musicology at Case Western Reserve University. As Katie and Sam quickly realized, it is possible to find true love on a dating app, and they happily share with everyone that Coffee Meets Bagel is a good bet! It was just the day after Sam had passed his Qualifying Exams at Case that the two of them “matched,” while Sam was heading home to New Jersey for a few days’ rest before returning to Cleveland for the start of the new semester. It didn’t take long, though, for Sam’s time at home to be wonderfully occupied by his virtual chatting with Katie, and paragraphs upon paragraphs later, they decided to set up a first meeting (August 26th***), and then a “first date,” and they have enjoyed a wonderful four-going-on-five years together ever since.&nbsp;

There have been so many “ups,” and very few “downs.” Although Katie suffered a Tibial Plateau Fracture not even seven months into their relationship (running isn’t for everyone, Katie learned that the hard way), Sam rose to the challenge and attempted to take care of Katie as best as he could until Diane arrived from Iowa as reinforcements! Katie and Sam perhaps learned the meaning of “in sickness and in health” rather quickly!

Since then, and during several years of living together, Katie and Sam have enjoyed: building a life together (complete with a handful of moving residences), walks in the neighborhoods, Culver’s and Menards dates (for Sam the honorary Midwesterner), cooking many meals together (and learning their favorites), “Sam practices trumpet and Katie is productive” time, “Sam works on his dissertation for hours” time (not anymore, though, woo!), and “being silly around the house late at night when they should probably head to sleep” time... Over the past four-plus years, Katie and Sam’s travels have taken them on a “Music Tour” of Iowa; to Venice, and Bolzano, Italy; to Paris, France; to Turkey Run, Indiana; to New Jersey; and to Oxford, England. They are excited to see where their travels take them next!

As they approach their Wedding Day, Katie and Sam could not be more excited for their future together, and all the blessings that that entails! In the short term, they will finally get to live together in Delaware, Ohio, where Sam has been teaching at Ohio Wesleyan University during three semesters living apart from one another. They are relieved that Interstate 71 will see much less of Ella and Wolfie (yes, Katie &amp; Sam name their cars) in the near future! Katie and Sam both feel that they are fortunate to be each other’s best friends, life partners, silly companions, and adventurers (even when Sam is reluctant), and they can’t wait to see what life has in store for them!

Our Story

Katie and Maribeth became friends in 2017 after Katie cold called her, inviting her to transfer to the Cleveland Heights P.E.O. Chapter and left a 3 minute voicemail, detailing all the things they had in common... luckily Maribeth texted her back. Once they actually met, they became fast friends and knew they found their new roommate. 
Maribeth and Katie LOVE hiking together, making & enjoying charcuterie boards, watching Doctor Who, singing/listening to music, and spending quality time together.

Mike is Sam's older brother, can't you see the resemblance?

Growing up in the Nemeth household, sports were a central part of their family dynamic. Both Mike & Sam (and their dad, Bill) were very active athletes in their childhoods into young adulthood. Many sport seasons were spent on the road supporting each other participating in various travel teams. Being 5 years apart, Mike and Sam might not have always seen eye-to-eye (literally), but since Mike has returned to NJ (their home state) in  [year] he and Sam, have grown closer in their adulthood.

Dana and Katie met at Kent State University when they both auditioned for the Black Squirrel Improv Troupe in 2013 and became close friends almost immediately. 
Dana and Katie bonded over their quick and witty humor, speaking in silly accents, and their love for musical theatre. They have loved supporting one another over the years in their various community theatre performances, concerts, and recitals.

Michael and Sam met during their master's degree at Penn State University in 2016. Interesting story how these two got acquainted: Sam is a trumpet player and needed a large sink/bathtub to clean his trumpet and he had asked Mike if he could come over and use his bath tube. Mike was a little [emotion/reaction] by Sam's request but said, "as long as you aren't going to be making moonshine in my bathtub, I'm fine with it."

Hannah and Katie met in the summer of 2008 at Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Camp at the Wesley Woods Conference Center in beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. They quickly connected over their love of music and quirky personalities! Year after year, CAPA Camp became their favorite week of the summer and Katie and Hannah soon felt more like sisters than friends!
Hannah and Katie were both infatuated with the Jonas Brothers (both then and still now), they loved going shopping together on their semi-annual day trips to Chicago, and love singing together too!

Marcelo and Sam met at Case Western Reserve University while Sam was completing his Ph.D. in Musicology in 2020 when Marcello had his first on campus visit to CWRU, when Sam was acting as his "tour guide."

Guests will book their stay directly with their desired hotel using either of the first two links below for the Rarick-Nemeth wedding block.&nbsp;Please note that there are a limited number of rooms available&nbsp;for the discounted group rate at each of the hotels. Additional accommodations are listed beneath. We will have a small number of rooms available for Friday evening, if you wish to get into town earlier. However, the number of nights you'd like to stay is flexible. The Hyatt is about 17 miles and 24 minutes from the church and about 11 miles and 19 minutes from our reception. The Hyatt has a bar/restaurant and includes a hot breakfast with your stay.

The Fairfield Inn &amp; Suites is located about 27 miles and 33 minutes from the church and about 9 miles and 17 minutes from the reception. Hot breakfast is included with your stay and there are several restaurants in the area, but not in the hotel. A shuttle may be available for guests to and from the hotel to the reception(only), if we fill our room block.
