Jake and Katie officially met at the classiest establishment in Ocean City, MD - Seacrets. He walked over to her, grabbed her daisy sunglasses off her face, and gave her his reflective ones - the rest is history!! Shoutout to Karen Liu (bridesmaid) - their mutual friend - for the intro.

After meeting, Jake and Katie realized they lived a few blocks away from each other and went on their first date to Blue Jacket, a brewery in DC. Although it was 102 degrees, it went amazing and they continued to go on more dates! After a few weeks, Katie invited him to go to Michigan to her cousin's wedding. Surprisingly, he said yes and didn't think she was nuts!

On their one year anniversary, they celebrated in Utah hiking all 5 national parks. This picture was taken halfway through Angel's Landing! One of their favorite activities is hiking, which they now enjoy with their dog, Pippa! (If you don't know who Pippa is, you are probably going to be removed from the guest list.)

Welcome to the family, Pippa! Katie decided to adopt a puppy. Although Katie didn't live with Jake yet, he still came over all the time and was the best dog dad from the start! (Pippa's feet didn't touch the ground for the first year of her life because he always insisted she had to be carried). She absolutely loves shoes, swimming, and would sell her soul for cheese. You most likely will meet her wedding weekend. :)

Roommates! Katie and Jake move in together in Logan Circle. To no one's surprise, Pippa rules the household - it's her world and we just live in it.

The couple bought their first home in DC! They live in Shaw/Mt. Vernon Triangle area. Jake and Katie love the city and couldn't imagine moving anywhere else.

Jake surprised Katie and proposed after her grad school class. Katie's class got out 1.5 hours early, which was quite stressful for Jake. He and Pippa met her a few blocks away on her walk home from class. After a stressful class, she was practically in tears complaining about the course. When she walked into their condo, there was a huge bouquet of sunflowers (her favorite), champagne, and of course gluten free cupcakes. Jake held her hands and got down on one knee and proposed with a sapphire. He even got Pippa a sapphire blue collar. It was the surprise of a lifetime. ( 8:45 pm on a Tuesday while wearing joggers :) )

Impromptu engagement party to celebrate with friends at Mission in DuPont circle. Their friends surprised them with cake, balloons, reflective sunglasses (a requirement for J&K), and more. Their friends are their DC family, and are the absolute best.
