In November of 2018, Katie saw a picture of Colten on Snapchat that was posted by their mutual friend, Astrid. Katie immediately reached out and wanted to know the most handsome man she had ever seen. Astrid connected us, and we started talking.

However, there was a challenge, Colten lived in Odessa, TX and Katie lived in Mission, TX. This was an 8 hour car ride difference. Although, there was an immediate spark, nothing immediately flourished in the relationship because the distance seemed too far.

Fast forward to March 2019, Katie was in Austin visiting her brother Rey. Coincidently, Colten was also in Austin for a DPS training. Colten reached out to Katie to see if there was a possibility if they could meet in person, although they hadn't talked in weeks, Katie said yes.

That night, Katie put on her Guns N' Roses t-shirt and met Colten at Mueller Lake Park. They talked for hours and shared their first kiss proving the spark still lived. At midnight, however, the clock struck twelve and reality set in. They still lived 8 hours away from each other.

Katie and Colten went back to living their lives separately and working their jobs. At the end of her teaching school year, Katie decided she needed a change and moved to Austin, TX. They still kept in touch with back and forth Instagram and iMessages.

One day, Colten reached out to Katie (again) and wanted to see her. He was persistent day in and day out wanting to see Katie. Katie was a little hesitant at the thought of seeing him and losing the chance of relationship with him, but she finally said yes.

Colten drove to see Katie and they fell into a deep love that Katie had only read about or seen in movies. Katie knew immediately she wanted to marry him (but didn't tell him). All her dreams came true, when Colten said, "I'm putting in a transfer to move to Austin and we are going to be together".

Colten kept true to his promise and moved. 2 years later he proposed at their home in Hutto, TX on her birthday.
