It's your typical Hallmark storyline... Katie had left Marble Falls when she graduated High School, and went off into the world for 13 years. Ironically, around the same time, Will was leaving his home town of Arlington and moving to Marble Falls for a new season in his life.

Katie moved back home from the big city of San Antonio, even though she said she never would, and quickly got back involved in the community with new and familiar faces. Will had already made Marble Falls his home and was very involved and familiar with so many people over time.

It all started with a game of cornhole...

Katie got a job at the Chamber of Commerce by organizing city events she grew up going to. Her very first event was the well known, Mayfest (2022), and it was a fairly hectic morning setting up. Will was in charge of running the cornhole tournament, and due to his love for helping and volunteering, he arrived hours before he needed to. There was an instant spark and connection.

The day went on and they ended up in the beer tent together and without skipping a beat, Will asked Katie to dinner. Her, completely caught off guard and focused on her next event, said he would have to wait until Lakefest (2022) was over, which was only 10 days away. He patiently waited, and of course, volunteered his time and energy for the long, hot, busy weekend of boat racing.

When the races ended on that Sunday evening and closing chores were done, he asked if he could finally take Katie out to dinner. She was shocked at his persistence, especially because she had been quite sweaty and dirty from the day and could have possibly used some more deodorant after working in the Texas heat for 12 hours. She asked if he was sure, because "this is as good as it's gonna get today", referring to her appearance, and he said “absolutely!”.

Being the small town of Marble Falls, they drove around for an hour trying to find their first date dinner location, but everything closes unnecessarily early on Sunday’s, so they settled for Chili’s, and it took off from there.

The more they got to know each other and tell stories and ask questions, they discovered they had been at the same place at the same time over the last 13 years but never knew it. They also know a lot of the same people and have multiple friends in common. These felt like good signs.

After dating for almost three years, and having the ring for months, Will decided he couldn't wait another day. He took Katie's mom to breakfast to ask for her blessing and permission, and then he popped the question, in their new home they bought together, at their Super Bowl party, in front of many family and friends.

He got down on one knee, she said yes, and they decided to be in it for the long haul.
