In the fall of 2017, Katie's friend, Ariani, asked if she wanted to meet up with her, her boyfriend Sebastian, and Sebastian's friend Mike. "Mike lives close to you and it will be fun!" What Katie didn't realize was that she would be meeting her future husband.

After that first night, Mike broke his leg in a skateboarding accident and they didn't see each other for months. But in early 2018 Katie and Mike started seeing eachother again in weekly group outings. Finally, in late February, Mike asked Katie out to Sapori Trattori in Lincoln Park, Chicago. They traveled across the country, moved into a one bedroom apartment in Chicago, and survived the COVID Pandemic together. In May of 2021, they bought a home in the Chicago suburb, Naperville. One week later, Mike proposed on the Chicago Lake Path in front of Buckingham Fountain. Lastly, in August 2021 their family grew with the addition of their puppy, Bella.
