Many people don't know this, but Collins and I met the old-fashioned way... on a blind date. I, Katie, was out with a group of friends for Cinco De Mayo. During our dinner conversation, our mutual friend, Kala Carroll, asked if I was seeing anyone. She mentioned there was a new guy from ACOM doing a rotation in pediatrics at her office who had asked if she had any single friends. Lucky for him, I was single, lol. The picture below is the photo Collins gave to Kala to share with me, so I wasn't walking into it completely blind (Photo: Collins with his adorable nephew Edward). Hook, line, and sinker. Two weeks later, we had our first date in downtown St. Andrews at Los Antojitos, and the rest is history.
At the time, Collins was living in Panama City, and that first date led to many more, including trivia nights, enjoying Slice House Pizza, and going for long walks with his dog, Hurdy.
A little bit about me, Katie: I love where I'm from because of the easy access to beautiful beaches and the ability to be on or in the water at any given moment. I have a large family, all of whom live in Panama City, including my parents, my three sisters and their families (except for Olivia, who attends UAB and whom we call #4), aunts, uncles, and my six cousins and their families.
A bit more about Collins: Collins is also from a large family, being the youngest of four, with three older sisters. He is from Tuscumbia, Alabama, but now lives in Mobile, AL, where he is working on completing his residency in Emergency Medicine.
