From Coffee to Forever

Like the start of most fairy-tale love stories, Evan and Katie met on a dating app. What both of them thought would be a quick coffee date at Greyhouse turned into a 7-hour conversation filled with talking, laughing, and connecting over many similar thoughts, backgrounds, and interests. Fast forward a few months of going on dates, Katie became anxious and unsure of where the relationship was heading, eventually deciding to *try* to friend-zone Evan. While not the most romantic moment at the time, this became a pivotal moment in their relationship. After prayer and honest conversations with each other, they decided to pursue each other more intentionally—growing in their communication, dates, and relationship with Christ.&nbsp; Since then, they have shared many adventures, created countless inside jokes, read many devotionals and couples' books together, served and built community within their churches, met each other’s families and friends, and continued to find more ways to love and serve each other. Through dating, Evan discovered his love for Katie’s compassionate spirit, generosity, silliness, breathtaking beauty, love of animals and children, and faithfulness. Katie loves Evan's humility, kindness, good looks, goofiness, wisdom, and pursuit of Christ.&nbsp; On March 22nd, 2025, they returned to Greyhouse to reminisce on how far they've come since that first date. Evan then suggested a walk in Horticulture Park, where another pivotal moment occurred—he proposed that they spend the rest of their lives loving one another, and Katie said yes! We are so blessed and excited to celebrate with our friends and family and cannot wait to build our life together!

Emily and Katie met in preschool and have been lifelong friends ever since. From childhood sleepovers and birthday parties to rooming in college and visiting each other in IN and AZ, their friendship has been a constant source of joy and strength. They've shared endless laughter, inside jokes, late-night chats, tears of joy and sorrow, and countless memories. It is a dream come true to have her standing by Katie's side on her wedding day.

Margaret and Katie first met at the airport when Katie arrived from China. As sisters, they’ve shared countless memories: picnic lunches on the front porch, Barbie doll playdates, horseback riding, and navigating adulthood. Margaret has always been the bold, outgoing, go-getter—fearless in chasing her goals, yet caring and compassionate, especially in her roles as a teacher and devoted cat mom. Katie is so excited to have her big sister standing by her side as her maid of honor.

Hannah and Katie met through their college ministry and quickly formed a deep and lasting friendship. What started as being prayer partners soon grew to spontaneous Target runs, shared laughter, and meaningful conversations about life and faith. Katie couldn’t ask for a more caring, joyful, goofy, and faith-filled friend to share this special season with. Her heart is full knowing Hannah will be by her side on such a meaningful day.

Rachel and Katie met at Purdue, where they shared many classes as Animal Science majors. Together, they “studied” hard, joined Bible studies, worked at an animal shelter, and made unforgettable memories during late-night adventures. Katie loves Rachel’s compassion, sense of humor, constant encouragement, and their shared love for animals. She’s so excited and honored to have her by her side as a bridesmaid.

Aleena and Katie met at a Bible study/life group and have been doing life together since. They've walked through many seasons side by side—from meeting their fiancés and navigating long-distance relationships to now the joy of planning their weddings together. Katie deeply admires Aleena’s creativity, boldness, and heart for serving others with warmth and hospitality. She is so grateful to have her as a bridesmaid.

Brent and Evan first met when their parents brought Evan home from the hospital and introduced Brent to his new little brother. Over the years, they’ve shared countless memories — from family vacations all over the US to game nights filled with Brent’s competitiveness, quick intellect and signature quirky humor. Though they have their differences, they’ve always been bonded by their shared faith, Boilermaker pride, and chemical engineering careers. Evan had the honor of standing by Brent’s side as his Best Man, and now Brent is thrilled to return the favor on Evan’s big day.

Micah is Evan’s longest-standing friend—a bond that began back in elementary school, thanks to their parents being family friends. Growing up just a mile apart, they attended the same church, performed together in school musicals and choir, took trips together, and shared many interests. Over the years, they’ve built a lifetime of memories. One of Evan’s most meaningful moments was standing by Micah’s side on his wedding day—so he’s especially thrilled to now have Micah standing by his side on his own.

Introduced by Micah in high school, Jared and Evan became fast friends, bonding over their mutual love for all things Apple. Jared and Evan have shared countless laughs over the years, and no matter how much time passes, they always pick up right where they left off. Though life has taken them to different states since high school, their friendship has remained strong through regular phone calls and shared life updates. Jared was the first person Evan called after his first date with Katie—excitedly telling him he might’ve just met The One.

Will and Evan first met during Evan's freshman year at Purdue through Cru, bonding as fellow Chemical Engineering majors. They even graduated side by side—alphabetically united as another “B” last name. When Evan returned to Indiana, Will was the first person he reached out to. Will and his family warmly welcomed him back to Indy and invited him to College Park Church. Over the past three years, Evan has cherished his friendship with Will and his wife Becky, and has loved watching their three children—Jonathan, Asher, and Abigail—grow up. Will is a trusted friend, adviser, and source of wisdom.

Aaron and Evan first met during their freshman year at Purdue through Cru—complete with some wonderfully cringey dance photos from a Cru conference to mark the beginning of their friendship. Years later, Evan was thrilled to reconnect with Aaron at College Park Church and to get to know his wife, Eleanor. Since then, Katie and Evan have laughed until they cried too many times to count during board game nights with them. Aaron is one of the funniest, most genuine, and faithful people Evan knows, and he's continually inspired by the joy Aaron brings to everyone around him.

For those looking to keep the party going long after the reception, Harry's Chocolate Shop has been the place to be since 1919! Despite the name, this campus-favorite spot doesn't offer any chocolate, except in their signature Grasshopper drink. Katie and Evan both (responsibly!) celebrated their 21st birthdays here!

The Celery Bog Nature Area is another great spot for nature lovers to take a walk! With 4 miles of trails through woods near a marsh, many unique native birds and home to the Lilly Nature Center, you will surely enjoy your time here. Katie and Evan have never actually been here together, so you can let them know if they should go!
