Giuliano and Katie's first date was a spontaneous Monday night trip out for pizza at Fellini's, a pizza restaurant in Atlanta with multiple locations. It started with both going to the same location, Giuliano sending an address to confirm, Katie switching her path, Giuliano realizing he sent the wrong address and hurrying over to Katie. After laughing over the mix up, they shared pizza and talked a lot about their pets (a cat for Katie and a dog for Giuliano) which were fairly new to both of them. By the end of the week, they had gone out twice more, and from there it was history.

Giuliano and Katie's relationship grew over the next two years as they spent time exploring each others passions. They tried numerous pizza places, though always returning to Fellini's for posterity. They rode bikes together around the various trails in Atlanta. Katie has gotten Giuliano to go (indoor) skydiving and Giuliano has gotten Katie to start watching educational television. There were many many trips to the lake, both in the summer and the winter for water fun and New Year's festivities.

They've traveled near and far to places like Asheville, Orlando, and even Italy, enjoying time spent together exploring new places. Traveling is something that both appreciate individually, but is made so much more exciting when done together.

Giuliano and Katie's proposal needs a little back story. In May 2017, the couple traveled with Giuliano's family to the home in Italy where they had spent many previous summers. During their trip, Giuliano was walking Katie around and showing her all of the sites. At the end, he took her to a spot overlooking the water and gorgeous beach town below at sunset. He then looked at her, got down on one knee, and played with her shoe. She, needless to say, was none to pleased with this trickery, but they laughed it off and moved on.

In January 2018, the couple went on a Caribbean cruise to Grand Turk and Amber Cove. They were very excited to take the vacation and get away from it all. Little did Katie know, it was going to be more than just a fun trip. They arrived to the port and embarked fairly easily, and then made sure to enjoy a cocktail on the deck during the send off. After a while, they got ready for dinner and began to explore the ship.

While walking around, Giuliano asked to go outside and they went out on the Promenade deck. It was so windy, they were afraid of falling off! After going back inside, Giuliano said "Let's go outside upstairs" and so off they went. After climbing to the ships highest exposed deck and taking a photo together, they were preparing to descend when Giuliano hugged Katie. He then looked at her and said "This would be more fun if you were wearing shoe laces." Katie looked away thinking he was messing with her again, but when she turned around, Giuliano was down on one knee with a ring box open in his hand. Katie immediately started crying which took Giuliano slightly off guard. After what seemed like an eternity of nodding and "OH MY GOSH" to Katie, but was most likely less than 15 seconds, she asked "Can I have it?" He put the ring on her finger and they joyously descended to dinner.

Katie realized that Giuliano hadn't actually asked (or she hadn't let him ask) the question. After joking about it to him a few times, he later asked the words and she said "yes."
