Our Wedding

John and Katie met towards the end of 2019 and started to officially date early 2020 right before the pandemic hit. John suddenly left for a deployment without a return date so we were prepared to take a step back. Fortunately, we were still able to talk every day. Texts became phone calls and phone calls became FaceTimes — every single day for three months. When John came back they were able to pick up where they left off! A few months go by and John decides it might be a good time to get a dog. Since Katie works from home, she offered to help out during his puppy stage while he took off for work. So one night, he found a German Shepard (you all know him as Sam) on Craigslist and they drove out to Riverside on a Friday night to go pick him up. John told Katie to pack a bag and you guessed it — she never went back home. And yes she STILL payed her rent during this time just in case “things don’t work out”… that was a waste of money. Things worked. REALLY well. Especially in times where it felt impossible (the military, no explanation needed). They got engaged in November of 2021 and moved to Thousand Oaks, CA March of 2022 where they purchased their first home. Fast forward an entire year and they are getting married!

What are some things to do?

San Clemente has beautiful beaches and a walking strip filled with local shops and restaurants. Dana Point is also close by and one of our favorite areas. We have a list of some of our favorite spots in “Things to Do”, be sure to check it out for good bites!

What should I wear?

Our wedding is going to be formal. As a heads up our bridal party’s colors are champagne and black. We will have an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. We’re hoping there will not be rain but we will update as the day comes closer. It may be a bit chilly so dress accordingly!

Who is invited and are there ‘plus ones’ and are kids invited? 

We have thoroughly put together our guest list to include all those we love and cherish! If you received an invitation, we truly hope you can make it. Our guest list and all invitations will be personalized per person/family. There will be exact details on who is invited and if there is a ‘plus one’ added to your invite. Unfortunately, we are unable to invite everyone. For the children invited, please be sure to supervise them during the ceremony and reception. We want to ensure there are no accidents.

Will there be an open bar? 

We will have a complete open bar during cocktail hour so please take advantage and double fist it! Our reception will be open bar with only beer and wine so try to get your cocktails prior if that’s your preference. Of course, cocktails will be available for purchase. Otherwise enjoy the selection of wines and beer all night long!

What are the Food Preferences?

We realize that our wedding falls on a Friday during lent. This is a plated dinner in which each dish comes with both fish and meat so you can pick your preference. Of course, we have a vegetarian option as well.

We have several rooms blocked for the day as many guests will be traveling to the area. All you will need to do is let them know you’re staying for our wedding when booking your reservation.

What a Dish is located in beautiful Dana Point overseeing the harbor. They serve breakfast, lunch and dessert. Portion sizes are perfect and the food is amazing. They share their location with “It’s all About Cake” (our wedding cake vendor!) Don’t leave without getting a sweet treat!
