Disneyland Post-Wedding Family/Friends Day!

June 12th, 2021 started off like any other day. Ryan and Katlyn decided to take to their phones swiping through various profiles on Facebook dating when suddenly he swiped right after coming across her profile. Katlyn then followed and immediately swiped right on his profile. They started talking right away about all their likes and dislikes and all the qualities they were looking for in "their" person. They soon realized that they had a lot in common. After just under a week of talking, they decided to take the next step and meet in person. On June 18th, 2021, Ryan and Katlyn made plans to meet for the 1st time at P.F. Chang's at Town Square. He had arrived early and was waiting for her. Katlyn remembers being extremely excited for this date because she really liked him thus far. Then, disaster struck Katlyn's new car that she had just bought a week earlier wouldn't start at the gas station just after she had filled up and was ready to head to the restaurant. She really liked Ryan and was terrified that he would think she was standing him up. Instead, Ryan patiently waited 30 extra minutes for her to get there. Katlyn walked into the restaurant and her eyes lit up at how good he looked (meaning he looked like his pictures) and how sweet he seemed. He remembers she was wearing a white off the shoulder shirt and black shorts with high sandals. He thought she was pretty but couldn't get over how bad she needed a tan. Ryan to this day jokes about her looking like "Casper". A dinner date over Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts and an amazing dessert called "Fire &amp; Ice" turned into a six-hour long date that included drinks at the Yard House and a long walk around Town Square where they continued to talk for hours. Finally, around midnight, he insisted on walking her to her car to make sure that it started ok and gave her a kiss goodbye. Over the next few weeks, they saw each other several times and truly took the time to get to know one another. A special time for them was on the 4th of July at Cowabunga Bay Waterpark where they both have season passes. Ryan had decided that it was time to introduce his son Logan to Katlyn but wanted to do it in a very casual setting with other family around. This was the first time she had ever met his family let alone his son Logan and was extremely nervous. It took about half the day for her to work up the courage to go over to their cabana. Once Katlyn did, there was no turning back. She loved spending time with his family and from that point on spent several evenings a week with Ryan and his family. It took Ryan 46 days to OFFICIALLY ask Katlyn to be his girlfriend and another 46 days after that for him to tell her he loved her. He definitely wanted to be sure every step of the way and took his sweet time....LOL Over the next year and a half they have been to over 20 concerts together, have traveled to San Diego for their one-year anniversary trip, Hawaii for her work trip, Universal Studios twice, Disneyland about 9 times, and to California visiting her family. For those of you that don't know, Ryan has Disney in his blood. He grew up down the street from Disneyland and used to go there after school for fun. He has shared his love of all things Disney and Ducks with Katlyn and now that is something they both love and share together. Ryan assured her that the next step "marriage" would happen somewhere around 2026. He was always joking that he wouldn't take the plunge for "3 to 5". Over the last year and a half her love for him and his son Logan have grown tremendously. They have built an amazing bond and their own little family. Logan may not biologically be hers, but she loves him like he is her own, and Ryan admires that above all else. Ryan usually cooks, and Katlyn helps Logan with his homework. They are an amazing team. It wasn't long after they started dating that she knew Ryan was the "one"! She loved him beyond measure and couldn't wait to start the rest of their lives together.....just one problem...Ryan and his "3 to 5" year plan. Little did she know... On March 16th, 2023, they decided to spend one day at Disneyland while on a trip to see the Ducks play. Katlyn made Ryan wear matching t-shirts and hoodies (she wouldn't have it any other way)and loved to take pictures at all the photo pass locations throughout the park every trip. While in line, they see a prom proposal and an actual proposal. Katlyn became emotional, make-up began dripping down her face. Ryan as usual made fun of the couple and said, "Ugh, that is so corny. I think I'm going to be sick". He suggested that she take off her glasses since she is wearing them in every picture they've taken but she refused. It then became their turn. The photographer took several photos of them and then asked to take photos of just Katlyn much to her dismay, she struck a pose. When she turned around, Ryan was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. Katlyn began crying and said, "Really?". He nodded his head and said, "Really!". She didn't even let him say anything else; she pulled him off the ground jumped up and down while hugging and kissing him. After, they enjoyed a romantic lunch at Blue Bayou, a restaurant overlooking Pirates of the Caribbean. They then went on to spend the rest of the day calling family and friends sharing the good news while riding all of their favorites..... Ryan and Katlyn look forward to starting off their “forever” in the presence of family and friends on October 18th, 2023.
