Our Wedding

We first met during my freshman year of college in an aural skills music class. From the moment I met him, I was drawn to his intelligence, how adorable he was, and, let’s be honest, how hilarious he was. I asked him to be my studio partner, but he (tragically!) said no (he had already been asked!). Still, we sat next to each other for the whole semester, until he switched majors and disappeared from class.After that, I’d only spot him occasionally in the hallways (once with green hair!) as he continued to sing in a men's choir. A summer later, while he was in Boston, he messaged me out of the blue. He had accidentally signed up to be a percussionist instead of a clarinetist and wanted to know more about the drumline I was a part of. We met up for practice before auditions, where it became clear he didn’t exactly know what he was doing, but he was still cute.At the time, I wasn’t looking for a relationship and told myself I wasn’t going to fall for this guy. Then came our first drumline performance of the year, at the Memorial Union Stadium for the incoming freshmen. In the middle of a piece, he turned around and made goofy faces at me. Right then, I knew—I wasn’t going to be able to stop myself from falling for him.We officially started dating on August 26th, 2018 at 2:00am, after he admitted his feelings to me and asked me out in the parking lot of his best friend’s apartment. Parker proposed and asked me to be his studio partner for life in 2025 by the Riverside Dam in Grand Forks, ND. We have a long life of making music and causing chaos together ahead of us.

As told by the Bride

I first saw Katie during music major orientation at UND at the beginning of my sophomore year of college: I still remember she was wearing basketball shorts and a Nike sweatshirt. I thought she was cute, so I thought I would try to get to know her better. I had to transfer into a different section of aural skills class, and, luckily for me, Katie also had to transfer into the same section. Katie asked me to be her studio partner, but I unfortunately had to turn her down because I already agreed to be Tyler "Swat" Swatlowski's partner.I ended up switching majors and taking some classes during the summer in Boston. I was feeling pretty lonely, but I remembered that I thought Katie was pretty cool, so I reached out to my friend and Katie's coworker Lindsey (shoutout) at Olive Garden to confirm if Katie was single. I found out she was: mission success.I decided to sign up for marching band going into the new year. My advisor thought I was a percussionist (I was not) and put me in drumline. I knew Katie was in drumline, so I decided to just roll with it (drums can't be that hard, right?). I agonized for a long time over how to tell her I liked her, so my buddy Nick had to come home from a party and comfort me and give me some advice. I don't really remember what he said since I was so nervous, but I guess it worked.Anyway, I ended up walking out of band that year as a seasoned percussionist AND dating the love of my life. The rumors are true: you can pick up girls at band camp. Several years went by, and we moved in together, and moved to Mayville after Katie got her teaching job.We knew we wanted to get married, but I was mentally preparing myself for buying a really nice ring: Katie gave me specific instructions on style and diamond size. Apparently, I have good taste, because she seemed to be pleased with the ring I chose. I decided to propose to her at our special spot up on the north side of Grand Forks with a little picnic with sushi. This proposal was a little lame since it was blistering hot, so we ended up eating the sushi in the car. I was waiting to get a cat anyway to do my real proposal, so this was more of an I.O.U. situation.Nevertheless, Katie agreed to be my wife. Now, in 2026, we have bought a house together and adopted two wonderful but mischievous cats. I still have yet to do my "real" proposal at the time of writing, but I'm getting there. In any case, I love her and am looking forward to spend the rest of my life with her.
