We are so excited that you are coming to Charlottesville for our wedding. Charlottesville is very accessible by plane, train, or driving. See options below.Car rentals are available at the airports and at other locations throughout Charlottesville.If you need any help thinking through your travel logistics, please ask us!

Travel Overview

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you book your hotel ASAP (especially if you choose not to use the hotel blocks). September is a very popular time to visit Charlottesville and the decent hotels will likely all be booked weeks before our wedding. Please note that the wedding blocks (including reduced rates) will go away in August.Note that the Charlottesville hotels are a 35-40 minute drive from the venue and the Best Western in Zion's Crossroads is a 15-20 minute drive.

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Charlottesville North

Charlottesville Airport is really convenient. It's a small airport so flights can be limited but if you can find a well priced flight to CHO, it's your best bet! It's about 40 minutes from the airport to the venue.

Charlottesville Albemarle Airport

Richmond International Airport is about an hour and 20 minutes from Charlottesville/the venue. Flights to/from here are often cheaper than from the Charlottesville Airport and there are many more flight options.

Hyatt Place Charlottesville

This hotel is in Zion Crossroads and is located about 15 minutes from the venue. It is about 20 minutes from the hotel to Charlottesville. It is the only hotel close to the venue that is not in Charlottesville. (For folks familiar with the area, the hotel is located at Exit 136 on Interstate 64.) We do not have a specific wedding block here, because you can currently get a cheaper rate without the block.

Charlottesville is very accessible by train, especially from the Northeast. The Amtrak station is located near downtown Charlottesville.

Overview

Charlottesville's Downtown Mall is a pedestrian mall with restaurants and shopping. We come here a lot! Some of our favorite spots include South Street Brewery, Bang, Citizen Burger Bar, and Marco and Luca's Dumplings.

Spending time in the Blue Ridge Mountains is beautiful and good for the soul. Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive runs north from Waynesboro, VA to Front Royal, VA. You can drive on as little or as much as you like and you get multiple gorgeous mountain views. The closest entrance from Charlottesville is the Rockfish Gap Entrance in Waynesboro. There is an entrance fee. You can also drive south on the Blue Ridge Parkway for free!

There are dozens of amazing wineries in Central Virginia. King Family is one of Katy's favorites due to the deliciousness of the wine and beautiful scenery.

Bold Rock cider is tasty and the cidery is beautiful to visit. It is located on Route 151 in Nelson County - there are multiple awesome breweries, wineries and distilleries along this road.

If you want a not too challenging hike and swim (if it's warm!) we recommend hiking around Sugar Hollow in Crozet. Blue Hole and Snake Hole (2 popular swimming holes) are located here. This is a place close to our hearts because we had our first date here! There are multiple websites that help with directions if you google any of these spots.

Possibly the most delicious brunch in Charlottesville. You have to come early if you don't want to have a long wait!

Bluegrass Grill & Bakery

Bodo's basically has the best bagels south of the Northeast. Katy would argue they are the best bagels ever. There are 3 locations throughout Charlottesville - on the Corner near UVA, on Preston Ave near Downtown, and on Route 29 near Barracks Road shopping center.
