A few months prior to meeting in 2017, Katy was scrolling on instagram and noticed her college friend (Shelby) posted a picture with a cute guy with a beard. Shelby and Ben went to high school together so I knew if I could annoy Shelby long enough, we could make a plan to all hang out. Flash forward a few months, Ben tagged along with their friend Zach to visit Shelby for the weekend in good ole Richmond, KY where of course I magically was there too. Our first weekend meeting consisted of showing the boys our famous “casa” fiesta Mexican restaurant, my roommates boyfriends fraternity party pregame & of course the best bar in town- Jerzees’s! The after party consisted of our friends getting lost (and sick) while Ben and I had a good 4 hour heart to heart conversation about Life. It seemed like after one night, we had the same opinions, same values & just totally “got” each other. We stayed in touch over the summer, but Ben headed back to OSU for his final year of school while Katy dove in to her first full year of teaching at the Compass School. Keeping in touch over the next year, we were both eager for Ben to be living back at home once he graduated. Ben moved back in with his parents and started at Cintas in Mason. At the end of summer, Ben asked Katy to meet for sand volleyball and a drink at Digs in Mason. On August 15, 2018, we met for beers, played sand volleyball with Ben’s co-workers and started discussing being Katy’s date to her sisters wedding. November, 2018 Ben got to meet EVERYONE in the family, all of the friends and clearly he didn’t run, so it all went amazing! Katy then met Ben’s family that month and things were quickly getting more serious. In the years between, tons of football has been watched, lots of country concerts, tons of Skyline eaten, attending/being in our friends weddings. We traveled to Colorado, Vegas, Florida and a few other spots. Lots of driving back and forth from Katy’s parents in Morrow to Ben’s parents in Fairfield so we started talking about leaving the nest. We started looking for places to live. We bought the Condo in January 2021 and we were so excited to move all of stuff in and see where this chapter took us. Within the first few months of living in the condo, Katy’s mom got very sick & Katy moved back home to help take care of her and to help with her niece Julia. In the meantime, Ben was living both at the condo and his parents while Katy was working, coaching volleyball, living at her parents and SURPRISE, we’re pregnant!! Katy’s mom continued to get better, Katy moved back in with Ben, we set up the nursery and waiting for our little baby to make their entrance in early November. Baby was measuring big, so we were induced at 39 weeks and on October 28, 2021 our sweet baby GIRl Aubrey Lynn Hoffman was born and we have been head over heels ever since. Katy quit her teaching job & started nannying part time and takes Aubrey with her. We’ve always known we wanted to spend together forever and once Aubrey was born, we talked more and more about how we want to officially make us a family. After months of bugging and large hint dropping, we went to take Aubrey’s one year old photos at our favorite place, Marmalade lily. Finishing up photos, Ben got down on one knee and asked Katy to marry him with Aubrey in hand. It was the most special moment for us both and it was even more special being able to share that moment with our daughter and have the pictures forever! Our families were waiting at the condo to “surprise” us and throw us a mini engagement party. We jumped right into wedding planning and are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together with each other, our daughter & our future children! Thank you everyone who has been with us on our love story, we wouldn’t be here without all of our village!
