Our Story

Like many modern love stories, ours started on Bumble—well, sort of. A few weeks into dating, it came out that it was actually Andrew’s friend, Megan, who swiped right on Katy’s profile. (Don’t worry—Andrew is very quick to clarify that he was the one doing all the messaging.)

Our first date was at The Loft on Lark in Albany. We met for what was supposed to be a quick drink… and ended up talking for five hours about everything from conspiracy theories to career dreams. It felt easy. Natural. Like we’d known each other for years.

Just six weeks later, we faced something hard—Katy’s beloved dog, Sonny, passed away. It was sudden, messy, and heartbreaking, and Andrew was there for all of it. He stayed up, helped with everything, and supported Katy in a way that made it clear: this was something real.

Since then, we’ve built a life full of laughter, travel, and a healthy lack of hesitation when it comes to saying “yes” to an adventure. One of our favorite memories is from a trip to Thailand. It was Andrew’s first time to Asia and after the longest flight Andrew had ever taken, he was exhausted. When we arrived at the hotel and Andrew was checking in, the receptionist’s eyes lit up. “Swan, like swan?!” he said, making a swan motion with his arms—followed by the bellhops flapping their arms like wings. Katy couldn’t stop laughing. Andrew, at the time, was less amused. (He now finds it hilarious and tells the story himself.)

Andrew proposed at home in December, turning our annual Santa Speedo Sprint brunch (Albany's best weekend event) into something unforgettable. Before our friends arrived, he led Katy outside to a backdrop he’d secretly set up and asked her to marry him. Spoiler alert: she said yes.

We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you—and we’re even more excited for everything to come: more adventures, more stamps in our passports, and a lifetime of saying “yes” to the unexpected.
