He Liked It So...

Y'all I really don't know where to begin. When I was finally by myself today after the sweetest weekend of my life, I didn't really even know how to collect my thoughts. Sure, I came up with some cute ideas in my head to express some parts, but to express the overwhelming sense of love that I felt this weekend is impossible to put to words. But, for anyone who may want to read this, let me attempt. He told me that he had asked my dad for his blessing in DECEMBER. In case you aren't looking at a calendar, well, it's APRIL! Talk about making me wait! Many people knew what I couldn't dream to know. Skylar planned a perfect weekend in Auburn and I may or may not have nearly sabotaged it a few times.I saw that there would be a Color Run in Atlanta on April 1 and asked my cousin Lynn and friend Rebecca if they wanted to join me. They both made some pretty simple reasons that it wouldn't work, all the while, texting Sky to ask him if he knew that I was wanting to go to Atlanta the weekend he planned to propose. So, when I talked with him about doing the Color Run, he asked if we could go through Auburn and stay, then go. I felt like that wasn't the best sense of our time and somehow he convinced me that I'd rather just hang out in Auburn that weekend. We made our plans and Lynn and Aunt Laura "booked" their trip. A week out, I had several little, subtle things said that made me wonder if people knew about the proposal but prepared me for disappointment. Mom encouraged me to be patient even if it meant the end of April/beginning of May. Lynn encouraged me that my family may not be able to make distance with their busy schedules. Rebecca begged me to call her since she wouldn't probably be there. Then, Charlie, Lynn's son, got the "flu" and they backed out at last minute to come to Auburn. Aunt Laura's "sub backed out". We decided to make the most of our weekend and go to an Auburn baseball game. It was AUsome! I got Willie's Wings afterward and I felt like the weekend was a success. On Saturday, I noticed Sky was bouncing off the walls. He kept telling me he was hyper from some Spark he had to drink. After running and skipping breakfast, I was hungry and asked if we could eat some barbeque for lunch before we hit the road. He said that he didn't want barbeque and would rather walk around campus and take a picture at Toomer's Corner. A little frustrated and a lot hungry, I went with it. Walking, Sky reached out his hand to hold it but his hands were sweating and I just told him that I'd wait up for Bec since she was walking so slow (trying to talk to Hillary who had a camera). When we got to Toomer's, Sky explained that he was hyper and sweaty-hands due to his nerves on the day and he got down on one knee and asked if I'd marry him.As I said, "Yes!", I could hear my mom, dad, sisters, Lynn and Ryan and their kiddos, Aunt Laura, Pam, Trinity, Tamia, Rachel, Givens, Brian, Hillary, and even strangers celebrating! To say that I was overwhelmed is an understatement. I don't know if Sky knows this. I don't know if Rebecca or Rachel even know this. But, I have always thought it would be incredible to have some important life event, ok, I'll be a girl, a proposal, at Auburn. When I didn't meet anyone while attending there, I secretly tucked that desire into my heart and planned to never see it. There were times when I didn't have a date or wondered if someone would ever come, and at times, I think I wondered if I would have to secretly tuck the desire of marrying and starting a family as another desire put away and planned to not see. Then, God worked in a mysterious way. He tore down some walls and helped me trust Him in a whole new way. So, if you are one of my many dear friends still in the waiting game, don't tuck those desires away completely. Have hope that God knows even the most intimate desires of your heart. His will and His glory are our aim! We hope you will join us this summer to celebrate what God is doing in our lives!

The Ring

Well, if you know me, you know I can be all kinds of sentimental. Also, when I was a kiddo, I adored my Nanny, my dad's mom. She would light up a room with her vibrant red lipstick and incredible musical talent. You couldn't do Christmas at Nanny's until you had gathered around her piano and sang Christmas carols.Years ago, my grandmother got sick with dementia. Everyone seemed to think her ring may had been stolen or lost. After my grandfather passed around Thanksgiving, we cleaned out the house and looked through every inch of her belongings for that ring. Little did I know, my mom found it a little bit later when she was sorting through some tangled jewelry of my Nanny's.Ok, ring details! The ring is gorgeous for starters! It has a dainty gold band and a sweet halo around the center diamond. And that center diamond was my Nanny's! What an honor and blessing.

Ceremony

Our ceremony will be held at Beautiful Feet Ministries at 10 am. 1709 East Hattie Street Fort Worth, Texas

The reception will be hosted at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. Please drive to the second entrance. You will see a giant clock in the flowerbed. Parking will be on the right hand side as you drive in. You will see a sign to the reception area. 3220 Botanic Garden Boulevard Fort Worth, Texas

Sunday Morning

We invite all of you to stay through the weekend and join us for the worship service at Beautiful Feet at 9 am.
