Our Wedding

Kay and Rebecca met online in January of 2023. Rebecca sent Kay a “like,” and Kay replied she’d had the “Mondayest of Mondays” — an adorable comment, in Rebecca’s opinion. A few messages later, they agreed to meet at an Italian restaurant in Rebecca’s neighborhood. That date was surprisingly easy and fun — none of the usual awkwardness, just hours of talking and laughing. What was supposed to be “casual” (since Kay wasn’t looking for anything serious and Rebecca was moving to California soon) quickly turned into something more. On a work trip to Brazil, after touring the jungle and samba-ing all night, they decided maybe long distance wouldn’t be so bad. So when Rebecca moved west, they gave it a try — flying back and forth, talking constantly, and growing closer despite the miles. By the end of the year, Rebecca returned to Chicago, moving in with Kay, her three amazing daughters — Izzie, Ari, and Lili— and Prince Coconut, the family dog. Life became a joyful mix of family events, adventures, and stolen date nights out on the town. Almost a year after moving in together, surrounded by the girls and Coconut, Kay proposed to a delighted Rebecca. And a few weeks later, Rebecca returned the favor, proposing to Kay at the Italian restaurant where it all began.

Flying In: We recommend flying into either Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Miami International Airport is a little closer to the venue, around 1 hour and 10 minute drive, while Fort Lauderdale is around 1 hour and 35 minutes drive. However, Fort Lauderdale is smaller/easier to manage for renting a car. Ground Transportation: Renting a car for the weekend is a great option for flexibility during your stay. However, if you prefer not to drive, uber and other ride shares are an option (trip from MIA normally look around $100 each way when we've checked). If you go that route, Key Largo is not super walkable but you can easily uber around once you're there as well. Where to StayThere are lots of hotels in the area! On‑site Watersports &amp; KayakingTake advantage of the resort’s waterfront access to go kayaking or paddleboarding. It’s a relaxed way to explore the mangroves and shoreline without needing to leave the property. Snorkeling / Glass‑Bottom Boat TourHead out from the resort or nearby launch points to snorkel the reefs. For a more laid-back option, take a glass‑bottom boat ride to view coral and marine life without getting wet.
