It was not at work.

It was not at a park.

And no, it was not at church. Kay and Lydell met at the gym. We know what you're going to say, "People meet every day at "the gym." But not this couple and not this way.

Kay had been engaged for several minutes in a strenuous workout when she reached for what she thought was her Pure Life bottle of water. After taking a generous drink, Kay overhears a voice from a few feet away saying "Hey, that was my water!" She realized her mistake only after she had just swigged from a stranger's water bottle. Instead of being upset, the stranger grinned, and said it was “okay “because he had another in his workout bag.

Mortified, but charmed by the stranger’s (Lydell’s) easy-going response, Kay began to take notice of this stranger. What began as an embarrassing mix-up, turned into weekly, per chance, meetings at the gym, while Lydell’s workout buddies, Richard, Darrel and Mo., the effectual guy friends, kept encouraging him to ask her out. They still laugh about it - how a simple mistake led to each of them finding their perfect partner. This is a reminder that sometimes the best things in life can happen when you accidentally drink from someone else's water bottle.

KAY DESCRIBES LYDELL:

Lydell carries himself effortlessly. He has a way of making everyone feel important. His voice is warm and measured. He has the rare ability to disagree with someone while making them feel respected and heard.

Doors seemed to open automatically in his presence—though of course, he'd never dream of walking through one before ensuring others had gone first.

Kay is so incredibly friendly, and her smile is the first thing I fell in love with-it lights up every room. Beyond her outward beauty, I truly admire her amazing workout discipline and how she is so supportive of my own goals. Even though she can be a little shy at first, I love how unpretentious she is. She’s genuinely herself. She is incredibly loyal, which means the world to me. She is simply the best partner I could ask for.
