For those of you who don’t know— me and Adam’s story started years ago. When I was in fifth grade and he was in sixth, we were both campers at 4-H Camp Palmer. My friend Carly and I were crushing hard on two older boys that we saw. We started signing up for all the same activities as them for free time, sessions that were offered, and ultimately did whatever we could to be around them. We eventually worked up the nerve to talk to them. After that, we hung out every day.. mutually lol. I even remember Carly coming into my bunk bed, after everyone was asleep in our cabin, and talking about these boys for hours.

4-H camp has a dance the last day we’re there and they play one slow song. Me and Carly were stoked to dance with our boys. That’s when Adam’s cousins and brother (who were our camp counselors) told us we were no longer allowed to hang out because we were making “purple”. Of course we were mad because we looked forward to it but next thing you know I’m dancing with Carly, and Adam is dancing with with Zach to Crazy Girl by Ei Young Band. And that’s exactly what me and Carly were.. crazy girls. After that, Adam and I started dating as little middle schoolers. But of course it didn’t last very long.

Fast forward to 2018, I had friends asking me to come to this ‘pond party’. I was very reluctant to go but could have used some fun in my life at this time. I got there and ran into Jamo. He was surprised to see me because the last time that he did I was a camper and he was getting me in trouble for making “purple”. We reminisced for a while and then he got all excited and said, “Actually Adam’s here! Let me get him and you can rekindle your love.” I tried to stop him out of fear that Adam would not remember me and it would be extremely awkward. But from the second i met eyes with him and he said, “Kayla Crawford” and said “Adam Vogel” both a bit stunned, i knew there was much more to our story. We talked for hours and spent the best summer of my life together creating memories with people we both still very much love today. I became his girlfriend at county concert after brad paisley played “she’s everything”. After that summer the rest is history.

I’ve never experienced a love so selfless, so undeniable, so book and movie like. And to think it all started from two kids at summer camp who then would reunite again years later at a pond party.

Adam could not have picked a better place to propose to me. My life changed when i met him again in 2018 at the pond, and now it has changed again in 2023.. All at the same place. This, as you can imagine, was the easiest yes I have ever said. I am so grateful for how thoughtful he was to make the whole day so special for me.
