Hi! It's Kayla. I will be doing all the writing & website creation because that is just what a Communications Major does. So here is the story of how John & I really met because of a random t-shirt & volleyball.

Anyways! John & I had been in the same room as each other every Monday night for at least 2 years before we not so accidentally fell in love. John and I met in a gym. A few years ago, my sister Lindsay began teaching fitness at a local gym and Christian sports plex in Appleton called Xcel. As she got more involved in the community, she discovered an open volleyball night every Monday for a few hours for people who enjoy playing volleyball and don't do it often anymore. She invited me to play with her, and at the time, I lived in Oshkosh and drove up sporadically over the next 3 or 4 months. I grew to love Monday nights for the people and the chance to play volleyball again.

As the months went on, I became more outgoing with the people there and made more friends. Technically, I knew who John was because my sister and I would talk about him between games, and it would sound a lot like, "How does that guy jump THAT high?" and "Okay, well, I would rather not be in the back row playing defense when he is hitting." We didn't know his name then, but we called him Superman due to his air time. Months passed, and besides a little random joke or a good game here and there, John and I didn't talk. Now, I had worked in aviation for about 4 years, and I knew planes pretty well, so when Superman showed up to volleyball one night with an XP-82 Twin Mustang t-shirt, I decided to discuss his nerdy little shirt. From that day on, John claims he could no longer "ignore" the pretty girl on the other side of the net that he, and I quote, "didn't think he had a chance with." I could no longer deny that I "just looked like this at work today" when, in reality, I would put on a little extra makeup and curl my hair just to go sweat in a gym and see him (seriously, try to get a guy only wearing athletic clothes I had to do what I had to do). We both realized soon that we didn't go to play volleyball anymore. After months of chatting and getting to know each other, John finally (after some pep talks from his friends, thanks, Ben) asked me if I wanted to get dinner and talk outside of a gym setting.

It took one date, and we have been inseparable ever since. John is my best friend, my voice of reason, who always has me smiling and laughing so hard that sometimes I think this can't be real. But God is good and He is able to exceed all of our expectations and nothing makes that more evident to me than meeting Johnathon.

John and I got engaged in Barcelona on October 9th. It was everything we could have dreamed of, and we can't wait to celebrate our love with everyone in October.
