It all started with a swipe...🐝

We first "met" on a dating app. We chatted casually for a few days before deciding to go on our first date. Our mutual love for exercise, dogs, and sports (which may have been stretched a bit on my end to try to impress him), piqued both of our interests. We decided to meet on a Sunday night and it was late September. Since there is no more fitting spot for a first date with a stranger, we picked the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club (RIP). I arrived a couple minutes early and was the only person there besides the bartender (that was a first). Jeff, who lived in West Chester at the time, said he was going to be a few minutes late (more like 20). At this point, I thought that I may be getting stood up, but still enjoyed my mixed drink out of the classic styrofoam cup. When Jeff arrived we awkwardly waved as he walked down the plank...and the rest is history!

Jeff and I have had so many great dates since then. Some of our favorite times are cooking dinner at home and spending time with our dog, Opi 💙

We couldn't be happier about this next chapter in our lives and we can't wait to celebrate with our family and friends!

It started with a swipe. A very well placed opening message from Kayla with a nice comment on a picture of me officiating a wedding in Australia. We chatted it up for the following few days and despite my efforts to try and take her out to a nice a sushi dinner, we settled for a Sunday night at the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club (RIP). This decision ultimately turned out to be a much better decision, as it was one of our favorite spots even before we met.

Now, it is true that I was a little late (I think Kayla’s timeline of 20 mins may be a little inflated, but we’ll let her have that one). I received a text from Kayla on the way mentioning how crowded it was and hopefully I can find a spot to park. Well, when I arrived, it was clearly a joke as her car plus 2 others (one of which I believe was the bartender’s) were in the parking lot. One thing this showed me was she had a great sense of humor, and she has kept me laughing ever since.

I walked the plank down to the bar, and sat down next to Kayla and we hit it off right away. No lulls in the conversation, cheap drinks (which were supplied thankfully by a friend of mine who was also the bartender- I promise I didn’t plan), and finding out we shared the same birthday; just 1 year apart (I’m the young one).

Since that night we have shared many more dates, several trips, and some of the best nights relaxing at my new Kentucky home with our big ol dog Opi. It turned out I got to inherit the best house, and she got to inherit the best dog. We’re so excited for what’s to come and celebrating many days, holidays, birthdays, and special events together. Before we get to all that however, we are so thankful for this special day, to celebrate with family and friends, and are beyond grateful to share all this with all of you.
