Here in small-town Vermont, when your friends are all married, and their friends are all married, it can be hard to find other single people...

That's what led our people to sign us up for Hinge.

On the same weekend that Kayla's profile was created, she asked her grandmother, "What kind of person do you think I am going to meet one day, Gram?"

Her answer - "Well, I think he will be tall and husky. And I think he's going to be a farm hand."

Kayla's surprised reaction - "A farm hand, Gram?!"

And her reply - "Yes, a farm hand, or at least someone who works with their hands. The hardworking type."

Just when Kayla had had about enough of the online dating scene, she happened upon a Patrick's profile and thought he was pretty cute. It didn't click right off that Patrick was just what her grandmother had described. But she gave him a "like"...and waited...

And a few days later he "liked" her back...

They started chatting back and forth shortly after, getting to know the basics about each other. Kayla had to make the first move and suggest they get together because Patrick was a little too chicken to get the ball rolling.

They decided to meet up for a walk on the trails at Shelburne Pond. This put Patrick in his outdoorsman element. Patrick remembers Kayla coming in a little hot, ripping down the dirt road (a few minutes late, of course), and blasting her tunes. When she stepped out, his first thought was, "She's cute...don't mess this up."

They started chatting along the trails, Kayla found out that he was EXACTLY what her grandmother had picked out of the sky - a carpenter by day and a farmer, also by day, and a fire chief - one of the hardest working people she's ever met, and Patrick, who was afraid he wouldn't know what to say on the first date, didn't want the date to end.

They continued to find time for each other throughout that busy first summer, but it didn't take long to realize this was something really special. Something they had both waited a really long time to find.

It also didn't take long for people to start asking who had the black Honda that kept showing up in the farmhouse yard. Word got around that the island's most eligible bachelor might be off the market. So eventually, after keeping the beginning of their relationship to themselves, Patrick and Kayla started introducing each other to friends and family on each side. And it just kept getting better and better. They have fallen in love with each other, but also fallen in love with each other's families and friends.

That makes this day even more special. They can't wait to commit to each other forever, but they also can't wait to do it with the love and support of their friends and family.
