Kris and Kayla first met at the Maple Lake St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in 2018. Kayla and her friends saw Kris walk by at the BP gas station and Kayla couldn’t help but yell out “damn you’re hot” and her three friends also made similar comments. Kris laughed, continued walking away, and said, “thanks ladies but I’m too old for you.” Kayla quickly yelled back, “well how old are you!?” Kris responded “27.” And Kayla said, “well I’m 23!”
Kayla lied. Kayla was 20.
Kris made his way to the parking lot of the Maple Lake bowling alley with his friend which is where the majority of people were hanging out. Kayla and her friends went there all of 4 minutes after he first walked by. Kayla told her friends, “he’s literally the hottest man I’ve ever seen. I want to talk to him.” And before she could take back what she said, her friends were walking up to him to break the ice so Kayla had no choice but to follow.
Kris immediately questioned Kayla and her friends’ ages and rightfully so- non of which were 21 but Kayla told him she was 23 because she figured that was the only way she would have a chance. He definitely wasn’t convinced right away and even said that Kayla should date his brother because they were closer in age. When Kayla explained that it’d be weird if she hit on one brother and then dated the other, Kris couldn’t really argue that. They continued talking for about an hour and said they’d catch up later on.
They did.
Kris and Kayla ran into each other a few hours later in the entry way of The V in Maple Lake. With some liquid encouragement, Kris kissed Kayla. They ended up dancing and hung out until bar close.
That’s when Kris and Kayla decided to walk to the only bar that was still open, The Maple Lake Legion. When Kayla got close enough to the door to see that they were checking IDs, and realized the wristband she hijacked wouldn’t work, this conversation happened:
“Wait- they’re checking IDs?”
“Yes, so just show your ID?”
“Ummm”
“Oh my god. You’re not 21!? How old are you!?”
“Okay I’m 20, but I’ll be 21 in a few months.”
“I don’t believe you. Let me see your ID!”
Kayla was telling the truth this time but Kris was not entirely pleased. However, they ended up adding each other on Snapchat and got each other’s numbers. Before they went their separate ways, Kris told Kayla that he would text her and that he’d take her on a date.
Kris lied.
Kayla told *literally* everyone about how she met the love of her life on St. Patrick’s Day just for him to never reach out.
*insert broken heart emoji*
Kris and Kayla each went their separate ways but watched each other’s lives through Snapchat.
15 months later, they ran into each other for the second time at the Brickyard Bash in Clearwater. They talked for all of 10 minutes before they went their separate ways again.
Neither of them were there “alone.”
Two months after, at the Clearwater Rodeo, Kris and Kayla ran into each other again. But this time was different. Kayla was over the age of 21, they were both single, and Kris came up to Kayla.
Kris and Kayla made eye contact from across the dance floor, and Kris shouted out, “You!” and walked up to Kayla and asked, “What? You weren’t going to come say hi?” (as if they were lifelong friends)
One of the first things that was brought up was Kayla’s age. Kris was happy to hear she was 22. (Still not 23 though) They talked for a little bit, danced for a little bit, and then Kris said he had to go after only like 30 minutes.
He asked Kayla, “Can I have a goodnight kiss?” to which Kayla responded, “you don’t ask, you just do.”
They shared a goodnight kiss, Kris walked away, and that was that.
just kidding ;)
Kris came back shortly after and said, “I guess we’re staying!”
Kris and Kayla ended up dancing the entire night. They even danced in the rain. Kayla told one of her friends, “I’m literally in love with this man. I’m going to marry him.” (A bold statement for sure, but she wasn’t wrong.)
Not only did they stay until the band was done playing, they stayed almost two hours later talking and getting to know one another until they finally got asked to leave.
As soon as Kayla got in the car, she told her friends, “I don’t know. I doubt we’ll actually go on a date. I’ll probably never see him again.”
Kayla was wrong.
They ran into each other all of 15 minutes later at a gas station. When Kris saw Kayla, he ran up to her, and said “I have to give you another goodnight kiss.”
He did.
They went on their first date two weeks later and the rest is history ;)
