They say that Facebook is a place for friends, but who knew it could also be a place to find your person!

We first met on Facebook dating during the height of the COVID pandemic. After spending a few weeks chatting, we decided to take a chance and go on a date!

Our first date was June 20th, 2020 at Holland Beach. Nick was the ever-prepared guy that he is and came with everything we would need for the day. Kayla showed up with her swimsuit and a towel. This first interaction would tell a lot about who we are when it comes to making plans!

We spent the entire day together; first at the beach, then out for dinner, and finally ending the night with some friends. We have been pretty much inseparable ever since!

We are so excited to start our life together as a married couple with our kitties Stella and Cosmo! Looking forward to sharing this day together with friends and family!

The Proposal

As far as I knew, Saturday, February 17th was a planned night out with my girlfriends. Nick was staying at his friend's house so me and my friends could have a sleepover after a night out.

Nick headed out Saturday afternoon, and all of my girlfriends came over to start getting ready. We showed off our outfit plans, swapped random clothes to find things we liked better, and did each other's makeup. The only difference from any other night out was they all decided the jeans I was wearing weren't cutting it and, "We should be fancy!"

We left the house to head to dinner when someone mentioned wanting to check out the mammoth art exhibit on the Blue Bridge downtown. So, instead of heading straight to dinner, we headed there.

As we walked up to the bridge, I noticed quite a few people on the bridge and started to wonder if there was some sort of event going on that we didn't know about. As we got closer, I started to see a "Marry Me" sign. I fully stopped, telling my friends I didn't want to walk through someone's proposal. Of course my friends knew what was going on, so they encouraged me to keep going, eventually having to physically push me to keep walking!

Finally, I realized what was going on. To say I was surprised was an understatement! Nick never was staying the night at his friend's house, there was no girl's night, and I was the only one who didn't know!

Being surrounded by friends (and family through video chat) while the love of my life pulled off the best surprise proposal ever was absolutely magical! Even though it was freezing and Nick had been standing outside with no coat waiting for us for 45 minutes, it couldn't have been more perfect!
