Kylie and Kayla first crossed paths in 2019 in Brunswick, Georgia, while attending the College of Coastal Georgia. Their meeting was unexpected, yet it felt like fate had brought them together. From that moment, they spent every day side by side; growing together while continuing to grow individually. As their time in Brunswick came to an end, they knew it was time for a new chapter. They moved to Florida, purchased a home, and began building their life together. Then, on a freezing cold beach at sunrise, ironic for a Florida beach proposal, the moment arrived. As Kayla would say, “about time,” Kylie asked Kayla to marry her. People often say opposites attract, and while that may have been true in the early days of their relationship, both would agree that they now complete each other in ways they never knew they needed.

On the early morning of the proposal, Kylie was feeling extremely stressed—not so much about popping the question itself, but about how to keep it a secret. The challenge? Getting the ring from the safe, into the backpack, and then into her pocket without Kayla noticing. This was no small feat, especially since Kylie cannot lie to save her life. When they arrived at the beach, Kayla turned to Kylie and asked, “Did you grab my Vans?” You can imagine Kylie’s panic—thinking she had to find shoes amid the ring crisis. The result? Their engagement photos were taken… in Crocs.
