Summer in Alaska is the busy season, so we recommend making reservations as early as possible.

Getting to Seward:

The first step is to fly into the Anchorage airport (Airport code: ANC). Most likely you will want to spend at least one night in Anchorage before driving to Seward depending on what time you land, how long your flight was, and if there's anything else you want to do during your AK trip. The drive to Seward from Anchorage is 3 hours, but it's an incredible, scenic drive and so usually takes longer with stops to be made along the way! We recommend making your way from Anchorage to Seward on Sunday, July 28.

Transportation Options:

- Renting a Car

The Anchorage airport has the regular car rental companies, but it’s possible these will be more expensive in the summer peak tourist season. Check out the app 'Turo' if you haven't used it before—similar to Airbnb but for cars.

- Taking the Train

Another great (and cheaper!) way to travel to Seward is to take the Alaska Railroad. It's a unique & panoramic ride with all the views you would get along the drive, plus even more that are not accessible by road. Just search the Coastal Classic in the link above. If you go this route, there are taxis in Seward for you to use once you get there.

- Taking the Bus / Shuttle

The cheapest option would be to take the bus from Anchorage to Seward. Check out the link to see what options are available!

You can also reach out to Red Eye Rides shuttle that provides a more tailorable schedule from Anchorage to Seward. This service also provides rides within Seward.

- Seward Taxis

If you decide to not rent a car and need transportation while in Seward, save these for getting around town. Most local taxis will go out to Miller's Landing, which is located at Lowell Point.

- Seward Taxi (907-224-5678)

- Aunt May's (907-491-1535)

Highlights Along the Seward Highway:

Anchorage to Seward (Seward Highway)

Make sure to fill up on gas before leaving Anchorage. There is only one gas station along the Seward Highway in Girdwood.

Stops we love & recommend:

- Beluga Point

- Girdwood--picturesque ski town with a brewery and a few restaurants with a beautiful mountain backdrop

- Alyeska Resort--riding the tram up to the peak of Mt Alyeska is one of our favorite things to do

- Whittier--to visit this town, you have to look up the tunnel schedule to get there...it's a town that you can only access by a unique one-way tunnel and home to the beautiful Prince William Sound

- Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

- Lots of beautiful trails, lakes, and rest stops all along the way

Where to Stay in Seward:

Visiting Seward, Alaska

Seward is a port city known as the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park. It's a small town of less than 3,000 people but is very busy in the summer, and lodging options can fill up fast. Seward has great restaurants, Safeway grocery store, and anything else you may need for your time there.

Our wedding will be at Miller's Landing on Lowell Point, but because Seward is a small town, any option you pick within Seward will be nearby. We recommend staying in Seward from July 28-30.
