It was the end of March when Robert and Kayla (unbeknownst to either of them) confided in a mutual friend, Kathryn, about their interests and disinterests in the dating world. Kathryn and her wife Staci realized how perfect Robert and Kayla would be for each other since they were looking for the same things. Kathryn then gave Robert Kayla’s phone number and after four days of texting they were on their first date on March 28th at Kumori Sushi where they met and instantly hit it off. At the end of the night Robert asked, “How soon is too soon to ask you on a second date?” To which Kayla responded with, “Is there such a thing?”

For their fourth date, Kayla invited Robert over to her house where she spoke right to Rob’s heart through his belly by cooking her famous Mac-N-Cheese. This date had Rob bragging to his coworkers the next day, “I was sitting at the table, eating this fantastic meal and the whole time I was thinking, ‘Where did this come from? I had no idea something like this existed!’” By their fifth date Robert was smitten and asked Kayla to be his girlfriend on April 13th and only two months later, Robert moved into Kayla’s house.

In the middle of July, they traveled with friends to Colorado for their first summer vacation together. It was there when Robert knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Kayla and “secretly” bought her an engagement ring. However, Kayla knew he was up to something because he was grinning from ear to ear like a young school boy. Two weeks later the ring was delivered. After almost passing out when asking Kayla’s Dad for her hand in marriage and the excitement of showing the ring to his parents, Rob accidentally left the ring out on the closet floor. When Kayla came home from work that evening she discovered the ring on the floor and carefully covered it up so Robert wouldn’t think his surprise was ruined. The big plan Rob was putting together over a month to recreate the moment when Rob knew Kayla was the lady of his dreams, fell apart; however, the night ended with Robert perfectly proposing in their master bedroom closet.
