Summer of 2014

We met through mutual friends the summer of 2014—Kayla’s friend Ashley and herself jokingly dubbed him “hot Nick,” and the nickname stuck.

2014-2016

We kept in touch and enjoyed catching up whenever Nick came home from college, picking up right where we left off.

January of 2023

In January 2023 Kayla messaged Nick to see how he was doing, and the conversation picked up like no time had passed.

January 29, 2023

Nick asked Kayla to a breakfast date at Toast. Nine years later, it still felt like the same two teenagers—laughing, sharing stories, and enjoying each other’s company just like we always had.

March 1, 2023

We officially started dating in March 2023, and two weeks later Nick met all of Kayla’s family at a lively St. Patrick’s Day gathering — a true crash course, and he survived to tell the tale.

September 2023

September 2023 — the start of countless adventures together. We spent 16 unforgettable days exploring Italy and Iceland, wandering cobblestone streets, tasting new foods(and wine), and chasing beaches and northern lights.

December 2023

December 2023 marked the real test — we moved in together. Nick quickly discovered just how extensive Kayla’s plant collection was, and before long he’d become a plant nerd too.

August 31, 2025

We got engaged on our favorite annual trip to Steamboat Springs, CO. Kayla had no idea—she just thought her dad was being awkward for insisting on bringing a bag of “raincoats” on our half-mile walk. The “raincoats” turned out to be champagne.

October 2025

We officially became pug parents to Finn! He’s the king of the house and joins us on every adventure—weekend getaways, brewery days, or cozy cuddles (and plenty of playtime).
