Our Love Story

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture, a fateful meeting, or a long-awaited connection. Ours began with a single click. James and Kayla matched on Hinge—two people in different places, yet somehow already on the path toward each other. James was on a fishing trip in Hayward with his family, and Kayla was living in Osceola, but distance didn’t matter. Their first conversation sparked over The Office, shared laughter, and a mutual excitement that neither had felt in a long time. From there, the messages never stopped—long conversations filled with honesty, intention, and the desire to truly know one another. On June 25th, 2023, they finally met in person at Lolo’s, where they spent hours talking over ahi tuna poke bowls and margaritas, completely losing track of time. Four hours passed in a heartbeat, and as they said goodbye that night, they both knew—this was only the beginning. By their third date, James knew he had to make a move. Kayla was leaving for a two-week trip to Michigan, and something in his heart told him this moment mattered. As they walked back to their cars after dinner in Hudson, James pulled Kayla aside, looked into her eyes, and asked if he could kiss her. Her answer was an undeniable yes. James smiled after their first kiss, saying, “I had to get that in before you left.” And that kiss stayed with them, carrying them through the weeks apart. Distance didn’t feel so far when they had each other, planning FaceTime dates and dreaming of their next adventure together. Upon Kayla’s return, James had a surprise waiting—an evening on the St. Croix River Cruise. Rain poured that night, but neither of them minded. When the storm finally passed, a brilliant rainbow stretched across the sky, a quiet reminder of the beauty in life’s unexpected moments. From then on, they built a life together, filled with adventures near and far—visiting Kayla’s family in Michigan, traveling to Orlando, fishing in Hayward, exploring Superior and Duluth, and even embarking on a journey to Wyoming. On July 29th, 2023, they made their relationship official, knowing in their hearts they had found something rare, something lasting. Yet, it wasn’t until November 21st, 2023, that they finally spoke the words they had been feeling all along: I love you. As their love grew, they realized that something even deeper was guiding them forward—faith. While Kayla had always been aware of faith, she had never truly explored it until she reconnected with an old friend, who introduced her to Eagle Brook Church. That first message she watched wasn’t just inspiring—it was personal, as if it had been meant for her in that exact moment. It was then that she felt something shift inside her, a pull toward something greater than herself. She shared this journey with James, and together, they began seeing faith as more than a belief—it was a foundation, a source of strength, a guiding presence in their lives. James, who had attended Catholic school but had never deeply connected with religion, opened his heart to learning alongside her. Together, they found that their relationship was strongest when they kept faith at the center, when they trusted that they were being led down a path meant just for them. On May 3rd, 2024, they took another step in their journey—moving into their first apartment together, building a life they had once only dreamed of. Through challenges, laughter, and countless beautiful moments, they always leaned on one another with love, compassion, and understanding. Now, they look toward their greatest adventure yet—forever. Their story is one of love, laughter, and the unwavering belief that life is most beautiful when it’s shared with the person meant for you. And through every step forward, they trust that they are exactly where they are meant to be. This is our story. And it’s only the beginning.

We are delighted to celebrate our wedding at Wild Ridge Golf Course &amp; Event Center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Perched at the top of a hill, the Event Center offers sweeping views of the golf course and surrounding landscape, creating a picturesque setting for our special day. Please note that Wild Ridge has a sister property, Mill Run, located at the base of the hill. While Mill Run is charming, it is a smaller facility. All wedding events will be held at Wild Ridge Event Center at the top of the hill. We encourage guests to continue up the hill to ensure you arrive at the correct location. We chose Wild Ridge not only for its breathtaking scenery, but also for the elegant and welcoming atmosphere it provides. Outdoor Activities

(Fun fact! This was the location of James and Kayla's Engagement photos and it's definitely a great spot to check out! The couple has strolled through this park many times --maybe while enjoying a delicious ice cream!) Phoenix Park, located at the heart of&nbsp;downtown&nbsp;Eau Claire, is the hub for all things "Eau Claire". It stands right along the banks of the&nbsp;Chippewa River&nbsp;and is the place to go when you want to soak in some of the best natural sights in the entire city and have a variety of different things to experience.

Nestled along the Eau Claire River and just minutes from&nbsp;downtown Eau Claire, River Prairie Park in&nbsp;Altoona, WI&nbsp;is a space known for its lively outdoor events, art,&nbsp;delicious food, and family-friendly attractions. Visitors can expect&nbsp;live music, tons of play space to entertain the kids, a splash pad and a stream to cool off in,&nbsp;trails for&nbsp;walking&nbsp;and&nbsp;biking&nbsp;and access to water for&nbsp;kayaking. Beaver Creek Reserve&nbsp;is every nature lovers dream. It sits on 400 acres of land featuring many diverse habitats to explore with different animals and plants. Visitors can learn about the woods, wetlands, and even savannahs with a visit here. The reserve includes 9 miles worth of&nbsp;hiking trails&nbsp;and even a seasonal butterfly house. Whether you're young or old, there is something to learn here for all and lots of nature to get in touch with.

Northwest Park’s wooded 120 acres hold seven miles of single-track trails for mountain biking, winter biking and snowshoeing and a two-mile double-track loop that’s groomed for classic and skate skiing in the winter. Northwest Park

Putnam Park is a 230-acre natural area owned by UW-Eau Claire. Most of the park is forested, although there is a small marsh area at the eastern end of the park and a small prairie area at the western end. Most of the park's land was donated to the city of Eau Claire in 1909 by Henry C. Putnam, who wished to see the land remain in its natural state and serve as a botanical laboratory and park in perpetuity. Over the years smaller tracts of land have been added to the original tract donated by Mr. Putnam. Ownership of the park was transferred from the city to the university in 1957. About half of Putnam Park is designated a Wisconsin State Natural Area.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=14xiHff9Xn7i9M0d-PMGOl19N8XDJ0QQ&amp;ll=44.79826163743604%2C-91.50354549999999&amp;z=14" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">GOOGLE TRAIL MAP HERE</a>.

Putnam Park

The&nbsp;Chippewa River State Trail&nbsp;runs for 30 miles through Eau Claire, Dunn, and Pepin Counties. Throughout your ride you'll pass through some pretty neat places and&nbsp;get familiar with the Eau Claire, Caryville, Meridian, and Durand communities. If you and any riders in your group are 16 years and older, make sure you all self-register and purchase a state trail pass. You can find a self-registration box and an information kiosk on Short Street in Eau Claire which is the dividing line between city and state trails. Once you've got the pass, you're all good to roll!

Chippewa State Trail

The&nbsp;Old Abe State Trail&nbsp;runs through Eau Claire's neighboring county, Chippewa. The trail system runs 20 miles and passes through Cornell, Jim Falls, and Chippewa Falls. If you choose this trail for your cycling trip, you'll get to see all of what northwestern Wisconsin offers between the scenic natural landscapes and the cool culture. Make sure you don't forget your state trail pass and look at the map before you go!

Old Abe State Trail

A favorite summertime activity of Eau Claire residents includes spending the day on the water via the&nbsp;Chippewa River&nbsp;Water Trail. Grab your preferred method of travel (tube&nbsp;or&nbsp;kayak) and hop right in at the&nbsp;Phoenix Park&nbsp;&nbsp;landing. A cooler of cold beverages and lots of sunscreen are highly suggested during this adventure. For an even greater&nbsp;Chippewa River&nbsp;&nbsp;experience, hit up the&nbsp;tube, canoe, and&nbsp;kayak&nbsp;rentals at&nbsp;Loopy's&nbsp;&nbsp;for the perfect summer float.

Carson Park&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;place to be in Eau Claire. From paying a visit to Paul Bunyan and&nbsp;Babe the Blue Ox&nbsp;to fishing at Half Moon Lake or catching an Eau Claire Express game during the summer, Carson Park has a long list of things for you&nbsp;to do. Did we mention it's also just a great place to simply&nbsp;be? The sights found here&nbsp;will unleash your inner peace, happiness&nbsp;and make you feel like you are at one with the universe.&nbsp;

What better way to get a taste of the local&nbsp;art&nbsp;scene than to walk along a FREE&nbsp;public art display? The Eau Claire Sculpture Tour, located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is the largest rotating sculpture tour&nbsp;in the nation with over 120&nbsp;sculptures that you can view while strolling along these Midwest Indie streets.&nbsp;

(Trust us when we say you should definitely check out Scheel's Sporting Goods! They've got the good stuff!) As the Chippewa Valley's premier shopping destination, Oakwood Mall has a strong mix of the hottest local and national retail brands to suit any number of tastes such as Ulta Beauty, Old Navy, and Victoria’s Secret. Major anchors include Hom Furniture, Hobby Lobby, JCPenney, Scheels, and a multi-screen movie theatre with stadium seating. Enjoy popular restaurants such as Five Guys &amp; Grizzly’s Wood-Fired Grill plus a food court full of tasty options. This is James's and I's favorite brewery in Eau Claire, if you like beer then you need to check this place out!! We love the outdoor space on a nice summer day! This is the place to go for beers that taste like no others that you've drunk before. The&nbsp;Brewing Projekt&nbsp;focuses on creating beers that are far from boring; they take flavors and sensations that you wouldn't expect in a beer and turn them into something you'll be refilling your glass with because it's just so dang good. Enjoy your flights in the taproom or their hip and cool rooftop patio. If you want to stay on your feet, grab a&nbsp;kubb&nbsp;set and set up your gang's pitch on their lawn. This place is meant to enjoy with the ones you love most. If that's your dog... no problem; The Brewing Projekt is&nbsp;dog-friendly&nbsp;and welcomes well-behaved dogs with open arms.&nbsp;

(This is the couple's favorite winery in Eau Claire!) River Bend Winery &amp; Distillery&nbsp;is located just a short drive from Eau Claire over in Chippewa Falls, WI. Their spirits are made in a "grain-to-glass" distillery meaning that the finished products are&nbsp;authentic and of the highest quality they can be. Before River Bend was a distillery, it was a winery (and it still is)! After the owners' success producing wine, they wanted to put those same talents to another test and try their hand at operating a distillery. Come enjoy a glass of what makes you happy and enjoy the scenic vineyard views at River Bend!

(Loopy's is where James used to play beach volleyball in college. James's favorite meal here is pizza! Fun vibes! The couple definitely recommends!) Loopy's&nbsp;&nbsp;is the epitome of outdoor dining in&nbsp;Wheaton, WI&nbsp;with their sand volleyball&nbsp;courts,&nbsp;tube rentals, and tiki bar overlooking the&nbsp;Chippewa River&nbsp;! This is the ultimate summer hangout in the Eau Claire area with delicious grill food, seasonal&nbsp;Leinenkugel's&nbsp;&nbsp;beer, and an array of outdoor activities.

All of their wines and spirits are made to be distinctive and something entirely new and different than what you could typically find on the shelves of your local grocery store. Infinity also hosts special events year-round like live music, open houses featuring seasonal cocktails, and many others. Apart from the cocktail tasting and drinking, you can also take a tour of their site and learn how they produce their wines and spirits.

It's because they've successfully paired two things the state of Wisconsin loves most: beer and cheese. 3rd &amp; Vine is equal parts taproom, restaurant and retail space. They offer a variety of local craft beers, charcuterie boards, and other tasty menu items.

Ever wonder what it would have been like to live through the prohibition era? Although time machines don't exist (yet), Ombibulous does! Their brewery in&nbsp;Altoona&nbsp;was built to mimic that 1920's speakeasy vibe so once you walk through their doors, it'll feel like you've truly gone back in time! Their friendly staff will pour you a nice glass of their delicious beers and then you're set to have a fun and relaxing night out. You can play shuffleboard on their second floor or take in some fresh air with your beers under their pergola on their outdoor patio. While you're here, just remind yourself how awesome it is to not have to drink beers in secret!
