Will and Kayla met the summer of 2013 after Kayla's last marching band parade in the parking lot of San Benito High. Through mutual friends, they hung out a couple of times freshman year and unbeknownst to Will, Kayla thought he was so cool and wanted him to think she was as cool as he was.
Fast forward to sophomore year where they shared an English class together, but were both too scared to talk to each other in person without a mutual friend involved. Through social media they began to message each other more frequently until Kayla finally asked Will for his number. Through no fault of his own, he accidentally gave her his previous number but quickly remedied the situation with the correct one. She still brings this up 10 years later.
Their first date took place in a sushi restaurant, and if you know Will, you know that he is not the most adventurous of eaters. Kayla made him eat a piece of raw tuna, which he still brings up 10 years later.
A couple of months later was Kayla's 16th birthday and she decided to bring a bunch of her friends to the boardwalk for the day, one of which being Will. Throughout the day, Kayla's friends made a lot of comments on the way Will looked at her like he was smitten. They later rode the gondolas together and both knew that they loved each other, but were both too nervous to say anything.
Nearly 10 years later, they both still look at each other like they're smitten only now they have the courage to tell each other. They have built a home together (literally) and now have two cats together (eight if you count all of the barn cats they've taken in). Even throughout all of the ups and downs that come with life, every day still feels like riding the gondolas.
Will still doesn't like raw tuna.
